Default Alarm Problems

Just noticed that my alarm is not setting itself when I lock the doors with the key fob. THe lights on the windshield tell that the alarm should be set, but upon trying to get the alarm to go off, it just won't.

I have believe that it is an Ultrastart 2355 http://www.ultrastarters.com/c...y.htm . I did go thru their site and looked but nothing that I found gave me any ideas on how to re-activate the alarm.

Has anyone had a simular problem? I would like to have the alarm back on again.

THanks.

How are you trying to set off the alarm? By the shock sensor(tapping on the car) or by openning a door? Both ways?

Sounds like it may be in valet mode. Im not familiar with the alarm, but you know if a directed alarm is in valet by the LED staying on constantly. If this is the case, check on the website to see how to disengage it. You probably have a switch or button under the dash.

From what I understood, the LED is blinking.

Yup, the led is blinking. I sent off an e-mail to the manufacturer and they replied that the alarm in the setup mode. To start I am supposed to hit the reset botton.

And I tried both 'hitting' the car as well as opening the door.

Workin night shift right now so I will post back later about what I get done. Thanks for the replies guys.

Hmm... just tried to reset the alarm but it is still not working.

Here is what is happening. I hit the lock button, the doors lock and the alarm chirps indicating that the alarm is armed. The lights on the antenna start to flash (I assume an indicator that the alarm in on). I wait for a couple of minutes then try lifting the handle, rocking the car and hitting the body in a couple of places( lightly ).

The alarm does not go off which has got me worried. I like my alarm, gives a false sense of security.

Any thoughts.

It's probably not sensitive enough to go off by you hitting it lightly. Lock the keys in the car and try to steal it and then you'll know what you got.

Well seems that locking the keys in the car and trying to steal it worked. The alarm finally went off. I am just curious as to why the sensitivity of the alarm went down when I did not try to decrease it.

Another problem to be solved.

Thanks for the help guys.

Is the battery dead on the key fob?

for the sensitivity, try checking the sensor itself... It ususally has a dial that goes from 1-10... 10 being most sensitive.

My alarm is set in a certain mode and you have to hit the car on the frame just above the door to set the sensitivity. It will adjust according to how hard you hit the car. Also the cold weather that we were having likely increased the sensivity as well.
