Alarm install help
I have been using this as a guide http://causeforalarm.thecarthi....html
I thought I could handle this project no problem, but I am getting really confused on all of the wiring. Does anyone know of a better site that will help me some more. I'm close to taking it to someone else because I am sick of dealing with it. I have the led, antenna and sensors mounted but all this wiring is driving me crazy.
If I do take it into a shop, are their any shortcuts that I will want to ask them not to take? I want to do this right, but I'm feeling overwhelmed. Help

What problems are you having specifically? How about if we go through all the wiring one-by-one and then I will have a basis for making the site more noob-friendly?
Did you start by removing. [depinning] all the wires on the alarm you are not going to be using?
Makes for less wiring, to make you sick.
Is em1 the MM&Y of the car?
If so, please translate that into the MM&Y of car, you know, for us no0bs.

EM1 is the overly technical chassis reference to the 96-00. In this forum we generalize all 96-00 as EKs. I remember now that I intended to add that to the FAQ.
Can't remember the last time I went on AIM. Probably 5-6 years ago.

red wire of alarm is 12v connect this to white wire in ignition harness
yellow wire of alarm is ignition connect this to the black/yellow wire in ignition harness..
the 3 pin harness off of the alarm that has green/white green/black and solid green. is for the starter kill..
all you need is the green white and green black.. cut the starter wire (black white wire in ignition harness) and connect the green white to key side and the green black to starter side. the main harness is now done.
door locks..
connect the violet /black wire to ground..
connect the green/black to the green/white wire in the drivers kick.. (it should be a in blue plug) you can test it by supplying the wire ground.
connect the blue/black wire from the alarm to the green/orange wire ( also in the drivers kick in a blue plug)
the white/ black and the brown /black wires will not be used in your application.
parking lights..
white wire off of the alarm that has the fuse in it. needs to be hooked to a red/black wire.. you should be able to find it around the fuse box, at the dimmer switch or even in the main ignition harness. < be sure to set the polarity jumper on your alarm to +
door trigger..
green wire off of the main alarm harness is - door trigger
this will get tapped into the lt green/red wire thats located in a green plug at the bottom of the fuse box. i suggest using a multi meter for testing this.
trunk trigger is blue. that gets tapped into a blue/black wire thats found in the drivers kick in a harness that runs to the rest of the vehicle..
all thats left is the siren..
2 wires on the siren. red and black
red goes to the brown wire off the the alarm
black goes to chassis ground..

if you look at the wire harness that plug into the alarm on the top side of the plug you can see little plastic tabs that face tward the alarm. take a pick and pry it upward and pull on the wire and it should slide rite out.
i have seen people just hold the harness and pull of the wires to pull them out of the harness.. the only thinng with doing that is it bends the tabs on the pins so if you ever need to re pin the plug the wire connection isnt good.. or it rips the plastic so a pin will most likley fall out.. if you remove the pins the correct way you shouldnt have any problem down the road if you want to repin it.

Actually it's not... EM1 is 99-00 Civic Si's ONLY
Generalizing all 96-00 Civics as EK's is common but here in the US we in fact have NO EK chassis codes.
Does not seem overly technical at all to me. Chassis codes are a simpler way of saying the make, model, engine, and year.

I know that. The EM1s have the B series. However I find it very confusing to have the 99-00 being designated EM and then the 01-05 to also be designated as EM. It just doesn't matter for any of the things we discuss in this forum.
It's not "simple" if you just don't care about 96-00 Civics already (which I don't) and can't be bothered to learn more than "ek" (which I can't). I don't care if my car is an EH or EJ, if I say "EG", for all intents and purposes it is an EG except to the ****-retentive. They can all go back to their Star Trek convention and speak Klingon cuz I DON'T CARE.
It would be simple if we were in a 96-00 forum cuz there are only 3-4 codes. But this is an all inclusive forum. Each generation has 3-4 codes, each model (that we encounter on a regular basis) has 3-5 generations.
In this very general forum, please just stick to the very common/general chassis references or simply give the y/m/m. I'm not going to police it. It's just a matter of if you're using references that no one here understands, you're not going to get the answer you're looking for.

Jonny-X I'm going to make several small corrections to your post.

Okay, once again, I need help, I'm using cause for alarm and I'm stuck
I have prepped the alarm, depinned, the white/blue, purple, and red/white wires, cut the green and black/white, and cut the red wire before the fuse holder. Do i connect the backup battery module to the red wire now?

I assumed it was a 95 Civic, by his nickname, I just wish OPs would just use the MM&Y of the car, that way there is no guessing.

How the hell is it simpler, EM seems to cover a lot of years, saying EM1 does not give me the MM&Y of the car, definitely not the year.

em1 = 99-00 si
& it doesn't seem like the op has any problem at all besides not wanting to go thru with the install
just take it 1 wire at a time...
dont you have the manual
it should show u everything u need to know

go rite ahead and correct whatever you think needs to be corrected
i tryed to be as accurate as i could be without having a diagram infront of me. im not by any means acting like i know it all. just trying to give some direction and help out a little bit. thats what these forums are for
ive been installing for a living for the past 6 years. everything i posted was off the top of my head, sorry if i was off at all
i know for sure i could do the alarm in that car in well under 2 hours with all the wires braded and solderd.

Hey, no worries. It was one tiny little mix up so I straightened you out.
Any experienced installer can do a Honda alarm in two hours. We're talking about something MUCH more involved than that. Check it out (link in my sig).
I've only been installing alarms for 3-4 years, but I've done so many DEI's that I could never forget the main harness wire colors. I do alarm installs in my dreams.
fcm, if you want to put your foot down and make that a forum law, it's done. You call the shots around here. I just enforce them.
