alarm helpp..
ohh sorry. i tried to install a hoodpin for my alarm.. and now the alarm will not turn on unless i turn on the ignition, and i cannot start my car(started doesnt click..). i tried it with the alarm plugged in and with the alarm unplugged.?? helppp
Have you tried putting it back to what it was?
Sounds like the alarm's start kill. If it's normally open, it wont start unless the alarm has power. Triple check everything until you find what you did. I bet it's a blown fuse on the circuit the alarm draws power from. Look for your red constant 12V wire. Check all your fuses. They can blow just from the wire touching bare metal of the car breifly.

i did not unplug anything or install anything to it yet. my alarm does not have starter kill. checked all fuses, and nothing. im getting the little click noise when i turn the key to start, but its not starting?? 97gsr...

</TD></TR></TABLE> I would check batt. power, does the car horn and head lights work properly?
The clicking you hear, is it under the dash or is it the starter solenoid? A low batt. will have enough power to trigger the starter relay, [under dash] and even activate the starter solenoid, but not have enough power to turn the motor over.
The first thing you need to find out is if it's a low batt. problem, if it's not a low batt. then you can go ahead and see if its a starter relay, [and even if you can hear it clicking under dash, does not mean it's good] or the starter solenoid/starter.
One other thing to check for, make sure the batt. pos. (+) and neg. (-) terminals and cable clamps are clean and tight, and make sure the connection of the batt. cable to the starter motor is also clean and tight, at the same time you are checking the starter motor batt. connection have someone turn the key to start so you can see/hear if the solenoid is clicking, [if it is then starter relay is good] let us know.

not the starter for sure(changed it with a extra brand new one laying around).. battery is fine(jump started it). the clicking is actually coming from where the fuse box is under the hood.. switched the ignition and still no luck... blahhhh this problem is annoying
Is there no clicking at the starter solenoid?
Try this. on the starter there are two wires, a thick cable from the batt. to a stud on the starter motor, held in place with a nut, should have a rubber cap on it, and a thinner wire, [probably black/white] it will just be plugged in, [also should have a rubber cap], first make sure it's plugged in, if so unplug it and using a jumper wire, [about the same gauge as the wire you unplugged] connect one end of the wire to the batt. pos. (+) term. and touch the term. on the starter motor where you unplugged the wire from, MAKE SURE CAR IS OUT OF GEAR.
If motor turns over, starter and solenoid is good, and the problem may be the starter relay.
According to my wiring guides the 98 GSR starter wiring runs like this, starting at ign switch, [black/white] if its an auto start power, [black/white] runs through a switch at the shifter, [park/neutral switch] and out, [black/white] or on standard through "Starter Cut Relay", and out, [black/red] [controlled by the "Clutch Interlock Switch" that supplies a ground to relay, [blue/black] when clutch is stepped on] and then, [black/white (auto) or black/red (standard)] to a connection and out of connection, [black/red] through the "Security Starter Cut Relay" W/ Anti-Theft, [black/red] or directly W/O Anti-Theft, [black/red] to connection, and out of connection [black/white] to starter solenoid input, [plug in wire]
As you can see there are a lot of places along the way that there could be a problem, and that is assuming, as you say, the alarm has no starter cut, [that would be another]
So try the direct "jump" to the solenoid so we can eliminate the starter and solenoid as the problem.
