Do you want just a CD deck or MP3 deck...? What are your future plans? Any speakers and/or subs?

MP3 deck within your pricerange are Pioneer 7400mp. This one has great features but has a huge flaw. 4~5 second delay between mp3 tracks.

JVC KD-SH909 and JVC KD-LH1000 are $300~350 decks with mp3 capability.

For just a CD deck, I'd recommend Pioneer DEH-7400 for that price range.
Look into those and chose whatever fits your needs.

The Pioneer 7400mp, JVC kdsh707, Kenwood eXelon's (if you can get lucky and find a good price), Alpines (if you can get lucky again). Those are probably the best decks you can ask for. I doubt you will find a eXcelon or Alpine in that price range, but the Pioneer 7400 and the JVC 707 are in that price range. And the 707 won't have that long delay that the pioneer has.

You might be able to get a low end or a nice used Eclipse headunit for around $300

Look for the lower-end Alpines or the older models on eBay. You can get one for less than $300.

Eclispse look like crap... If its going to be in the center of your entire dash, it should at least be somewhat appealing. And for the money, you would be better off getting a new pioneer or jvc deck rather than some used deck that who knows whats happened to it.
