Default adding a switch

i did the auto to manual conversion. to start the car, i need to connect the two fat black wires. but i would like to add a switch to turn the car 'on' and 'off'.

i blew out a switch just by connecting the black wires to a switch. would i need to add a relay or fuse to prevent this from happening again?

First what wires are the two black fat wires? 99% of honda's the starter wire is black with a white trace. Post a pic or something.
