2000 Civic EX stereo code
We had the guys at a local auto parts store change the battery for my wife while I had to work, and now the radio is asking for the code. We have a 2000 Honda Civic EX. We searched through every bit of paperwork we had and can't find it. I've rummaged through every website I can find about obtaining a code and have looked EVERYWHERE these sites said the serial # would be (ie. glovebox, fuse boxes, trunk, drink-holder, etc).................and I've tried the "hold 1 and 6 while turning on the radio" thing and STILL can't find a code or serial number.................can anyone please help?.................or do I need to suck it up and dish out $100 to get the dealer to take out the radio?
Why don't you pull the radio yourself? If you get the serial number, you will be able to get the code for free...

If pulling the HU yourself is not an option, why not check your local car audio shops, we charge less then 1/3 of what the local Honda/Acura dealerships charge.
Dealership- $79
Us - $20
We also have a good working relationship with both the Honda and Acura dealerships in town and either one will give us the code over the phone.
Your in and out of our shop in under 1/2 an hour.

I finally figured out why the Honda shop, and soooooo many others made it sound so easy by phone. All I had to do was give them money.........lol. I would do the same thing in their shoes, after all.........we all want EASY money, right?. I called the Honda number 1-800-999-1009. The first guy took my info and asked if I was sitting in the car. I told him no because my wife drives it to work, he told me to call back while in the car. The next time I called (the next day) I talked to an obviously black lady who said we can't help you because of the model. You have to remove the radio then we can help. I immediately called right back and got another lady. I'm not at all a racist, but it seems if you get someone who sounds white, they usually WANT to help you. She did research and a 'search' on my model. She told me to open my glovebox and look down into the door..........not into the bottom, but to raise up and look straight down into the door of the glovebox....................low and behold............A STICKER! Not only with the serial number, but it had the code too! I overlooked it at least 5 times from the driver's side, but when I looked from the pass. side sitting up over it, it stuck out like a sore thumb. It is at the top of the glovebox door. You'll never see it from the driver's side (guess it's designed that way). I overlooked this damn thing way too many times. I'll never forget where it is now. Just wanted to make this last post to let anyone else who is ready to give up and pay someone to remove the radio know that it IS in the glovebox. It's made to overlook so LOOK THOROUGHLY............you won't believe it when you finally find it.
