White 97 EJ8 Build Thread
Even though this may be a super long term build thread, I've been wanting to post one of these anyways. I bought this car maybe 2 years ago for 2500 (I paid too much) but I needed a car to drive at the time and I really wanted a white coupe in manual. So I jumped for it, and immediately I had to do some repairs. Needed new axles, plugs, wires, etc...
Soon after I bought it I installed some fake 5zigens I got off craigslist for 200 bucks and ran those until recently. They were 17" and were way too big for the car. Although I kinda liked the look, I wanted to go down to 16's or 15's

When I got the car it was on stock suspension and looked 4x4, but I quickly installed ground control coils with KYB AGX shocks, blox LCAs, and a skunk2 lower tie bar as well as a GSR rear sway. This was all decent, but the KYB's suck to be honest and I wanted a stiffer ride.
So recently I picked up Koni yellows and I'm waiting on parts from Ground Control (new springs and koni sleeves n rings), which will go in as soon as they can ship them out.
This is my DD, so go easy on me!
Here's the current mod list:
Engine:
D16Y8
Fujita Short Ram
Appearance:
Si Rear Spoiler
Garage Door Front Lip
Black Housing Headlights
35% Tint
Interior:
GSR Seats Front & Rear
Cue Ball Shift ****
Suspension:
Ground Control Coils
KYB AGX (soon to be Koni yellows)
GSR Rear Sway Bar
Skunk 2 Tie Bar
Blox LCAs (soon to be Skunk 2 or F7)
Wheels/Tires:
15x7 Kosei K1
205/50/15 BFG g-force Super Sport
To-Do List:
Rear disk conversion
New engine or rebuild
Motor Mounts
Carpet & headliner
Replace Suspension Bushings
As the car sits now:

My goal for the build is a car that looks and drives "track ready." A lot of my friends are into the slam it and cruise look, but honestly I like driving too much and taking corners, and I don't feel like dropping my car and sacrificing driving pleasure. Not to mention I've always loved the look of track cars. Below are some of the mods on my wish list, I may never get to them but who knows, maybe I'll run into money all the sudden.
K20a or B18c
Full Repaint - keeping it white
Takata Green or Teal theme (valve cover, wheels)
Backyard Special Front Bumper
High rise rear wing
GSR Brakes

Hey dude. How did you get the stock deck off for the radio? I have the same model civic but the radio does not budge and I want to replace the old stock radio with a new deck.
A lot of people paint their wheels to do something unique, it's all about personal preference and definitely not about pleasing others. Most white cars on the road have silver wheels, so why would I want to be just like everyone else. Not saying I don't like the silver, but what's wrong with doing something different once and awhile?
Thanks guys!
Found this:

I think teal on white is fantastic.

car looks good bro !!!! i love it how you got these guys who frown upon black housing headlights that aren't "JDM" . bro your car is clean regardless your headlights arent "JDM" keep up the good work.
One of those things you gotta see in person to appreciate I guess.

Dropped it a little bit more since I installed the Koni/GC combo. Loving the new setup! [crappy cell pic below]
99-00 tails coming tomorrow or Friday, will update with new pics this weekend.

and thats why people say they dont like them cus theyre off ebay! It just looks cheap. Personally authentic CTR or OEM look better than that. Minus that not a bad looking coupe
The rear seats aren't a perfect fit, I had to cut out the original seat mounts because the GSR rears I got didn't have a split in the middle, there are small gaps on either sides but it works and I almost never have ppl in the back anyways.
The paint and body aren't in the best shape either so when I finish mechanicals I'm gonna do a repaint and get different housings most likely.
