Uchinanstyle's 1989 EF civic
Well allot of you know some of my cars that I have done in the past (EK9,DC5R,), well up next is a in really good shape 1990 crx siR, some of you may remember the picture below from my DC5R build thread.... After some begging, the shop owner sold it to me............ SCORE!!!
The donor car
The build car.
1989 Ef2 civic that is going to be changed into a EF9..... the body has just under 25,000 k's on it. The car has no a/c in it, so that will have to change. I wanted a true EF9 but due to the cost and the k's on their bodies, I decided this was the best way to go.
The parts that I have for it:
A-Sports short shift kit
Mugen engine mounts
EG6 brakes w/slotted rotors
EF9 Blitz full tap suspension
Momo handle w/40mm spacer
J's Racing TI shift ****
Rays lug nutz
cusco front tower bar
cusco rear tower bar
ats 1.5 way diff
Rays CE28N rims.... 15x6.5J+45 x 4
Stap Spec 2 tires....195/50-15 x 4

Re: Uchinanstyle's 1989 EF civic
Since I didn't know how to change the other thread's title, I decided to start a new one.
Here are a few updates.
The engine is out of the Cr-x
It was in really shitty condition, dirty as hell.. here it is after some cleaning, allot more cleaning is needed.... but do to the distance of the shop, I'm not able to clean or work on it. The oil pan seal and rear crank seal has already been changed.... I'm not for sure about the front crank seal and timing belt, I'm going to have to ask.
the transmission
working on the a/c, getting everything ready.
the car had a KYB 3 puck in it, using the stock dust cover and fly wheel, Waki had a OS laying around, he is supposed to call the maker to see if they make a throw out bearing for it, if they do, score.... the clutch will be rebuilt and put in, if not.... I don't know yet.
The ef with its new plate
Today or tomorrow they are going to drop the gas tank out of the Cr-x, once that happens, my car is going on the lift to start the prep for the engine transfer, fuel lines, a/c work etc.

I want to send this car to the states here in the next couple of years, in 2014 November, the car will be 25 years old and will be imported legally.

Re: Uchinanstyle's EF civic
Thanks guys!
Looks like I'm going with a stock clutch for the time being.
Does anyone know if the EF8 and EF9 radiator hoses are the same size and length? I want order some after market ones before the engine goes in.
thanks

Re: Uchinanstyle's EF civic
No go on the clutch's throw out bearing, the clutch is ORC and NOT OS Giken (my mistake), Os Giken makes one but ORC does not.
I didn't mention above, but my rear trailing arm bushings are shot and I'm looking into replacing them....
copy and pasted from another forum,
As far as the rear trailing arms bushings go, no go on stock ones, the Mugen ones cost 9,800 ($128.95) plus shipping...... J's racing makes some http://aero.auto-sty...er_url=jsracing but they are expensive.
39,900 yen........$525

Re: Uchinanstyle's EF civic
Engine being prepped to drop, hopefully by Sunday it will be on the ground.
Underneath the car, pretty clean for a 89
I decided to go with the EG6 brake rotor and caliper set up, basically due to the brakes being a little bigger and the rotors may be a little bigger as well.
I have also decided to go with Eg6 suspension, I have read that it will work, but I need the front forks to make it work, can any one chime in on this?
thanks

Re: Uchinanstyle's EF civic
Small update:
My bushings came in this past Monday, they came in 7 days after ordering them. I also picked up some 8mm Ultra plug wires and hopefully I will be picking up some J's racing radiator hoses in the next couple of days.
