Check this out.... This was from yesterday.

I am so F'n Pissed right now... So i get the spray.. i prep, i shoot.... This was the outcome.... (details follow the picture)

Once i finished painting them I let em dry for quite a while then clearcoated.. AND AGAIN... another wait.. So when Im hitting it with the rubbing compound im doing great until I hit the 2nd Piece... (driver side) somehow I went through the clear on contact with the compound and the part that sucks is im out of spray....
TO MAKE MATTERS EVEN WORSE!
The outer pieces were not OEM (they were 50/50 tailights I painted orange to look OEM) so of course when I strip the lights I have to also strip off the amber.
So I waisted $38 worth of paint over 1 **** up!
I killed about 6 + hours for absolutely nothing
and I now have to rock my old 50/50 tails again which is just
after the day ive had....
Hows everyone eleses day?
.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I just found a shop that had some VHT nightshade...( i know, I use vans usually.... But whatever! I ran out) So i decided to pick it up and work with what I got and use the 50/50 tails.. I would have liked to keep the OEM but despite not having any orange back there they turned out ok.. ( i didnt sand and buff them this time)
I did the sidemarkers too... Kept them relatively dark to flow with my paint. They light up just fine too suprisingly

This is todays update...
Im still bummed but considering the way they turned out I kinda dig em. It will flow nicely with my next set of wheels..

</TD></TR></TABLE>
Now this is what they look like..
I think i got it now!

First time was a no no... I
1. cleaned the surface w/ soap and water (fine)
2. Let it dry for a couple hours and did the clear (fine)
3. Buffed it out w/ straight rubbing compound.... NO NO!
next time I did the same steps but except the rubbing compound. I used wax and it came out nice!!! it was a stupid mistake.. I was in too big of a hurry and wasnt thinking...
In the pictures they arent cleared either..ill update soon.

what did you use to smoke them and whered you buy it?
be better to clear then wet sand with say 1500-2000 then another shot of clear?
sorry been trying to learn basics of painting and such. eventually want to spray my car myself.

at first I used Vans spray.. But then i switched over to VHT nightshades.. about $20 cheaper, then I used 2000 to wetsand em because I didnt wanna take the chance of sanding too far in..

Ok well after careful thinking and budgeting I decided to go ahead and get the tires.. Got them mounted and balanced yesterday. I didnt even have a chance to wash the car yet lol so yeah i know its dirty...
I actually really like them. I havent seen my car with bright wheels EVER.. I got a few things i want in mind in coming months but its been hard even making bills and so on...so we'll see.
Vals brother is coming down from So.Cal in late august so he said he will squeeze me in for a quick shoot while hes in town. Let me know your thoughts tho..
