finally decided to create my own build thread.
i know mine is gonna go kinda slow, being a full time student right now.
first off, the motor is stock. no turbo, soch non-vtec. the only things previously done to the car is a gauge swap, up-graded calipers, rotors, pads, plugs, wires, dis cap and rotor.
that is basically it.
so to start with, i found dc headers that i am getting ready to swap. i am gonna take plenty of pics and document everything.

ok, so it is freaking cold out now, so all that was accomplished was the removal of the heat shield.

pretty sucky headers
this is what will go on once it is not so freakin cold.

it's gonna be sweet

Header bolts are just a bitch, They usually love to break in the head after sitting there for almost 20 years.
Ive been hitting mine with PB blaster for the last month every time I'm under the hood just in anticipation of taking it off. Excessive yes, Waste of PB blaster yes, But maybe ill have less of a fight.

so i finally had a chance to do more work today. it only took me and my friends about 8 hours to finally get it all done. the only easy bolts were the bolt connecting the headers and block.
getting the manafold fully off was the hardest part.
it was really tight.

the header in pieces

finally, the result

the only thing i really was not expecting was the required extension of the o2 sensor
but since it is only a single wire, it was pretty easy.

One could plug the hole with an aluminum shaft to fit the head bolt hole and redrill one to match the D15 block. The tough part is the timing. The DOHC ZC cam gears are about the same size as LS cam gears but the D16A1 cam gears are about the size of aF22 cam gear (times 2).
I read about a guy on the east coast that put a D16A1 head on a D15B7 block. He found a timing belt that worked and got the thing running. After all that work he had like 7 more whp. Not worth it.
I would suggest to stay SOHC and go with MPFI. Get a D16A6 throttle body, intake manifold, injectors, injector resistor, cam and ECU. Look on ebay you can get all those parts for under $300 bucks. Go to pgmfi.org and the write up to convert to MPFI is there. It's really easy to do. I have a 88 DX with a D15B2. With DPFI, I could barely burn out. I'm talking about flooring the car until it hits the rev limiter and dropping the clutch. I switched to MPFI and I can roast the tires in in first and get a good chirp in second (and my motor is completely stock). Don't give up on your EF it just needs a little help!</TD></TR></TABLE>

as soon as i get the pics of the cover being painted, i'll post them
using a little masking tape and some chapstick to cover the emblem stuff off, we finally painted this thing. it is not totally done, still want to do the wrinkle finish, but i want the first coats to dry (the whole week it needs).
in a week or so, i am fully getting the exhaust ordered.
more soon

OK, so we got bored and decided to paint the Intake cover and remove the stubby little piece between the snorkel and the filter box.
Really simple come to find out.
this is the old crappy cover

the small *** throttle body

the cleaned cover (bad lighting)

the random intake pipe

removed piece

and finally, the painted cover

and yes, i know that dual point sucks really bad. but i can deal with it until i get some more money(like next month)
still waiting on the exhaust

So i was looking at my cat and realized that the skunk2 system would not bolt up to it, so i ordered a new magnaflow cat from autopartswarehouse.com for like 97 including shipping.
hopefully i can get this done soon.
i am so damn anxious to do this.

right, so i am kinda pissed at this point.
i was drivin round and my brakes kinda decide when they want to work right.
sometimes stiff, sometimes to the floor.
so now i get to drop 200 to replace the damn master cylinder and the booster.
(will take many pics)
what really pisses me off is that i have to go to 2 different stores just to get the crap, on like no f***ing brakes at all.
great way to start spring break

finally, after like a day and a half of working on it, the booster and master cylinder are in. i got one off a da teg and had fun getting the bitch in.
this is one of the things that hinted to me

not in such a great spot

after removing some of the hoses

getting the lines off was a lot harder than i thought, but i then remembered why i love visegrips

the old filter thing

old cap (not sure if the sensor even worked)

The old booster (black) and the New one (gray)

the comp of master cyls (left old)

since i had to partly remove the intake, i went ahead an replaced the intake gasket

i was sure glad that i had a open parking lot to do this in. this left a huge mess.

they definitely work, very damn well at that
now all i need to do is either replace the valves of the entire motor, whatever i decide.

so, this week is not turning out too bad.
today i was surprised with my exhaust system
I was not expecting such a large box, just small ones

so now the only problem is that i need to engine swapped before i put it on
and i also need the new cat to bolt to it
