actually, i just flipped through the 2008 SCCA rule book and didn't see anything regarding strut bars of any sort in the vehicle rules section.

I've never heard of that. Maybe in some of the higher levels of racing, like H1 and all that, but I highly doubt they have a rule like that for HPDE events. They are "High Performance Driving Education" sessions, which are more for you to learn your car and get seat time so they are more relaxed on modifications since you are not out competing. You don't even need a bucket seat and harness to take part in an HPDE..

 

If its an HPDE car, mostly anything goes as long as it does no degrade the safety of the car, person, etc.

I got it from Chase. He karate chopped the end off to expose the cam gears. PM him for answers.
