Re: Scott's 09 FA5 Refresh.
My brakes are near end of life so decided to order some blank rotors and stoptech pads. Will be doing the job over Easter weekend, don't worry Brice, I'll document it so you can do yours at home also.
Also picked up a couple Spoon items from Matt @ ICB.

Re: Scott's 09 FA5 Refresh.
Did the brake job over the weekend. Literally the worst brake job I've done. All the caliper bolts were seized up, then all the rotor screws were rusted and ended up getting stripped out. Ended up getting the job done after a can of PB blaster and buying an impact gun. And surprise surprise, the front rotors push in easily with a C clamp, the rears are the screw in kind which made it a bit more difficult but I managed. Pretty much took all day Saturday to do it. Felt like I had plenty of tools but not the right ones for the job. Oh well. Took plenty of pictures doe.
hitting it hard
final product. I really wanted silver caliper paint but I went to 6 different part stores with no avail. They all had the aerosol kind, but I wanted the brush on kind as I wasn't removing the calipers completely and I've used the brush on kit with good results. I had to settle for black. Not my favorite, but looks better than rust. Ignore the paint on the rotor. AINT CARE
SPOON. Also placed another order with Matt @ ICB for some more spoon stuff. SIQ BUILD

Re: Scott's 09 FA5 Refresh.
I miss the boards, so I'm gonna keep this going.
Long story short, we built a house. Car hasn't been touched, but its going to need a few things. Clear coat on the roof is failing, moldings are falling apart and the clutch is on the way out. I plan on keeping a hold of this for another year or so before I get rid of it for a Tacoma, so I'll probably toss some doll hairs at it. Not coils and wheels, but OEM parts and maintenance. I'll keep the thread updated as much as I can. #longlifeht

Re: Scott's 09 FA5 Refresh.
Car is officially in the shop. Throwout bearing was making a bit of noise, so figured it was probably time for clutch, throw out, pilot and rear main.. OG clutch AFAIK with 160k miles.
The small list of things to update for the car is as follows
Starter (mines making noise, still works but sounds like death)
I'll probably be updating the CMC and clutch line. I'm sick of the squeak and pop the factory CMC is known for. I'm debating on either the EM1 CMC or the updated OEM CMC.
New moldings, mine are falling apart
have the roof resprayed
will update with pics once I have it back from the shop!

Car is back from the shop! New clutch, pressure plate, resurfaced the flywheel, throwout bearing, pilot bearing and rear main seal. They also replaced the slave cylinder since it was leaking. Clutch feeling 100% now so might not need a new CMC. Also ordered and installed new OEM roof moldings. Next up is the belt moldings that run along the windows.
