Default Saving a milano pink sol.

First, the past. Some of you may remember me from my previous sol and midori civic -

And on to the present -

Currently have a 2000 a6 with roughly 350whp and roughly 400wt. It is my daily driver and a project in it's own right -

I've been looking for a del sol for 2-3 weeks ago with a budget of about $3500 max and stumbled across a milano red one in portland for 2 grand needing a roof and a paint job.

Made the trip to portland with a buddy, did some haggling and got the car for a good price. It is a 95 Si, m/t, with a/c (that works), cruise, power steering, power locks and only 103k on the clock. Mechanically, the car is in great shape, runs and drives fine @ 85mph down the freeway. On to the pictures -

Immediate plans -

Getting a replacement top - Reasons are obvious
Detailing/cleaning the **** out of the car, including wetsanding/refinishing the headlights and removing the awful purple tint.
Suspension - Looking in to GC coilovers with custom rates, Gr2's and custom extended top hats.

Suspension normally isn't such an immediate priority, but stock height sols look ***tastic so that needs to be fixed before I can drive the car.

Near future -

Wheels - Not sure what I want to do here yet. I have some 5 lug BBS vz that would work, but with how low I want the car to be, I don't think 17's will work. I don't want "Jdm" wheels as anything I like is stupid expensive and I refuse to pay as much for a set of wheels as I did the car. I'm thinking I'll do something a bit more euro. Pics of said bbs -

Paint - Still up in the air about what I want to do with this. Toying with the idea of doing a matte/flat red with a big white army star on the door. A bit darker than this -

Stereo - It's what I do for a living, so something good, probably a couple amps, maybe some 8's and a 12.

I might turbo the car at some point, but it is not a priority at all. I have the audi for when I want to go fast or drive in inclement weather.

That's all for now, I will update when I get more done.

Oh, forgot to add.

I'm also looking an buying a jdmsh!t wings west poly rep lip.

Also, I will be redoing the tint, probably 5% on the sides and back, and 50% on the front.

Thanks again. I HATE aftermarket floor mats.

Looks good for $1,500. More pictures of the Audi? I daily an '04 S-Line myself. There's a weekly GTG Tuesday night at 7pm in the Lynnwood area if you feel up to the drive.

I work retail so I usually can't make it to any sort of get together or meet.

Here's another one of the audi -

Pm me a price on the 1pc headlights and the tach. I don't *need* either, but they would be nice. The speedo on the sol seems to be a bit sticky....

Unfortunately work was slow today, so I made some progress on the sol. Remembered I had a steamer at work so I removed the awful purple tint. I think I'll wait til I get the car painted to re-tint the windows and replace/tint the windshield. Also cleaned, buffed, and waxed the exterior of the car. Still need to detail the interior, but its a good start.

Started my alarm install today. Looks like I have to grab lock wires in the driver's door. Ugh.

Just placed an order for koni yellows with gc coilovers and 450/350 spring rates. Hopefully they show up before next friday.

That being said. I love driving the sol, even though it feels super gay @ stock height. Granted, I haven't driven it with the roof on yet, but still. Looking forward to seeing where this project takes me.

Got a bit more work done on the alarm today. Removed lock rods in the door, disabled the unlock switch unless the car is running and a few other things. Also removed part of the fender liners in prep for being slammed. I would have slit and bent up the "ridge" in the wheel well, but I didn't bring the right tools home for that so it will have to wait.

I would have run the wires through the factory door boot, but that would have been WAY too much hassle.

Tightened up the acc belts today and adjusted the door hinge to shut the door a bit better too, no more squeakiness on startup, and a better door seal.

Got a new roof on monday from a junkyard for $150. Apparently they had a 97 front bumper for $125 that I was going to ******, but it was a 93 that someone had put on a 97

Anyways here's some before and after pics of the roof. This paint was aftermarket (original was samba) so I anticipated burning through the paint like I did, but it still looks a hell of a lot better.

Still waiting on suspension.
