Default noob/build thread from IN

Whats up guys!

My name is Nate and I am from the west side of Indianapolis. This is my first DC teggy. I have had an ef hatch and a 3rd gen prelude so far. I am going to build this thing slowly but surely. And I am in no rush to finish it.

I have been on honda-tech many times before, but never really was an active member. So now I am over being dead wasteful space on the interwebs and I will now be a more active member.

And now on to the car...

1995 Acura Integra LS (dc4)
B18B1 obd1 with an LS hydro tranny
Roughly 185xxx on the body. Motor is unknown.

Mod List.

- No-name cold air intake
- Apexi N1 2 1/2 in exhaust W/matching testpipe (knockoff)
- AMK project Racing 4-2-1 Header (Compliments of AMK Project Racing
located here in indpls.)
- Power steering to manual rack conversion loop
- Full A/C delete
- soon ABS delete (just need the valve off the RS teg)
- BLOX Racing cam seal (annodized red)
- Awaiting the Tien Sport springs.
- No-name strut bar w/DIY red annodize

She did come with the taupe interior and a friend along with myself swapped in a GSR dash and door panels. However, the center console and armrest are still taupe. Still trying to figure out if i want to paint it or not........don't know yet. I have found this stuff called neffy wrap that I might try and wrap them in. I'm sure most of you probably know what it is.

I am unsure of the direction that i want my car to go in. Either boost or n/a. But I guess everyone hits that point in a build. I have really been considering the j32 swap. But I have to think rationally because this is my DD and with a sense of cost effectiveness. I also have a 7 month old boy which is definitely taking more precedence than my build. Ok.....enough with the biography......on with the pics.

Well, Got bored today and did a little cleaning up under the hood and decided to tuck the Injector harness. eventually i will get started on the new block. Should I use the block filler before or after I get the block decked?

ok update.
I finally got the suspension started. I went with dropzone coilovers and sleeves for now. I still need Adjustable front and Rear Upper control arms and a good Alignment. Firestone Has a service where you purchse an alignment for like 80 something and some change, and they will align the car for free whenever for the length of time you own the car. Good deal in my book!

Also fab'd up that CF block-off Plate this week! And polished the header! <DrEmEl PoWaZ>

Next friday (late fathers day gift) I get to pick up another LS motor and Trans w/76xxx on the books. I love my wife.....lol She knows how to get to my heart.....lol

The VC was a hack job I know. I dont really care, It wont be in there but a week or so and the motor for that matter. And it is lowered..... I still need to adjust the rear so I can see where you might not notice it.

Hey I think I have most of the black interior pieces you're missing. email me at Andy171183@yahoo.com if you're interested. I'm in Chicago so shipping would not be bad at all or you could swing by and get them.

woo hoo! Had the new motor delivered to the shop yesterday morning. It was in pretty good shape.... just a little bit dirty. It came with the harness, torque converter, starter, ac pump, which are now all gone, with the exception of the Torque converter still attached.

All I need now is new axles, flywheel resurfaced, timing belt, and water pump and we are good to go!

Ok.... Update more or less back from the dead. The first swap did not go so well, among the rush to try to get it all done over the weekend so I would be able to drive it to work the following monday, the timing was set way off, and the motor ended up eating itself alive. So I had purchased a new disassembled B18B with a full rebuild kit. Arp rods bolts, ARP headbolts, ACL rod bearings and thrust washers..... basically the basics for a decent platform. After it was all put together, I had headgasket issues on the spot. Turns out I was not using the correct torque specs from ARP. Fixed that and just after break in she spun a rod bearing on a pull. So this is the way she had sat since January.

So I sent my block to the machine shop and received grim news.... The block would have to be bored to 85mm to straighten everything out.... no bueno. That same week I had also received this out of a trade for an old LS head Laying around...

After the grim news, a friend had called asking around for a turbo, I asked the same about a new block and ended up with this....

I now have a B20B bottom end with an LS rotating assembly with new 84mm Pistons

This was my makeshift workshop during the summer this past year since I did not have a garage, but I am moving into a new house and Will finally have a garage to work in.

The next ipctures are just random ones of little things here and there that I have completed while this POS sleeps. haha.

I dont like the yellow over the high beams like I thought I would... so that will be coming off along with that stupid little sticker about the tow hook.

Lexus ES300 Fog lights (DIY coming soon after move)

Four holes in the armrest, only one plug? solution follows

New Wideband Setup

New Header Wrap

Last picture of it running (I took advantage of the place i used to work for storing it during long afterhour shifts lol)

DIY catchcan (learned alot from this one, making Version 2 as well after the move

And finally went wingless

So the only thing keeping this project from running again is New bearings, thrust washers, a headgasket and ARP studs. Hopefully around tax time I can get the final parts and have this thing all back together.........

Its really nothing special. Objective at this point is getting it running. lol. I should have been more clear on the intent. My bad.

So far the parts list is a B20 on boost I am bouncing back and fourth between a big 16g or a GT3071....or hell even a super 60. I was heavily considering lsv or b20v, but I decided to stay non vtec. The block is a b20b4 with LS internals minus the Z2 pistons. LS head with mild work and ported intake manifold. The intake manifold is now mated with a ford racing 70mm throttle body port matched. I am trying something new, and this might work considering the tps reads the same. So hopefully it ends well lol. I have just had extremely bad luck with motors in the past and I am finally just ready to go from ground up.

I have definitely taken advantage with the tegs downtime going through and fixing things i normally wouldnt take the time to if it were running. And keeping everything at a reasonable cost is the main goal. This motor setup really has me only 160 or so out of pocket. So the only things left to buy just to get it running are the bearings, head gasket, and head studs. Now when it comes to the forced induction, parts will obviously jump the cost considerably.
