Default Midori hatch build thread.

Well I recently traded the sol for foam's old midori hatch so I figured it's time to start a build thread. This won't be a quick moving thread by any means, but oh well.

This is the car as foam had it -

We traded seats and wheels so I got to keep my heliums as well as my seats. Originally I wanted to trade the wheels but I actually like them on here so I think I'll keep them for now.

Anyways here's the car after we has swapped everything over -
(I apologize for shitty pics but I don't keep my d50 at work with me)

The car itself needs a lot of work. The owner before foam kept it in a horrible state and as such the whole interior needs a good shampooing and some of the panels refreshed. Before I got the car it was broken in to, the radio was stolen and they managed to break the driver's window crank and visor. I put a shitty pioneer in the pocket in front of the cupholders for now until I get my eclipse back from being serviced. The window regulator is fucked so I really need a new one but at least it's jammed up and not down.

The car has been in an accident before in the front end, so it could use a new core support but I probably won't mess with it for a long time. You can see the bumper gap on the driver's corner in the above pic. Well anyways I spent a good half an hour fixing it as much as possible and it has come out pretty good. Far from perfect but certainly much better imo -

Next, the exhaust. Foam put an apex n1 b-pipe back exhaust on the car with 2 1/2" piping which is a bit much for me. He was planning on turboing the car (as I am) but as it sits it's too loud and looks a little ricey for me. Tomorrow afternoon I'm getting a new cat-back installed and having an rsx muffler welded on with 2 1/2" piping. I'd do 2 1/4", but I am going to turbo the car in a while so bigger is better.

Before -

After -

The next couple days I will be working on the stereo and installing power door locks. I have a full system from my last car to put in and it will be a lot of work to do it how I want to do it. I plan on hiding the amps under the seats as best as possible, but if not in the spare well with the sub. I'm going to be fiberglassing the sparewell and building a false floor above it so it will defintely be A LOT of work. Full dynamat will come at some point, but for now I have to prioritize.

15% tint will be next on the list, though that will have to wait until the N1 exhaust sells.

Future plans: y8 tranny and im, turbo w/215ishwhp and various interior upgrades.

Things I need soon: Window regulator, floormats, ex cluster, factory 96-98 radio, y8 tranny and a cheap shift ****/short shifter.

I will try to keep this as up to date as possible

Update 2/2

Here are some updated pictures, still lots of little **** to fix in the engine bay but meh, it's a start. Oh yeah, and I still need to actually clean the bay lol, just got it saturday and haven't had time yet.

Update 2/6

Started fiberglassing tonight

2/20/07

Bought these a couple days ago. Will be sanded and painted on wednesday

2/21/07

Started on the wheels today. But of course had to test fit them and lower the car more

Our helper for the day -

Sanded and ready for primer -

Primed -

Waiting for the primer to dry as we speak. Repainting them silver and getting a couple new tires tomorrow. Hopefully they don't rub too bad cause I'm currently scraping the plastic engine dust guard on the bottom of the car lol.

After a couple coats of silver

dope! nice ek.

my window regulator is messed up too. i can only roll it down about half way and when i roll it up, i actually have to hold it so that it closes all the way. the window actually starts to slide forward, so i basically hold it up to prevent a gap on the other side.

I'm not gonna lie I liked the looks of it with the gold wheels on it, either way I love that color and it looks like a good place to start with a project.

What is the name of that color?

Not really. Car already had suspension & I already had wheels & seats

It will be a slow project cause it will take me a while to do the turbo
