"HIMASHI" - TG 91 CRX Si - by 99civicB20V
Hey guys... it's been a while since I've owned an EF of any kind, and even longer since I had a CRX. I have previously owned 3 EF hatchbacks, an EF sedan, and as far as the CRX goes, I had a first gen 87 Si about 7 years ago.
Just today, I drove 190 miles in my coupe to look at a Tahitian Green 91 CRX Si. I didn't really know what to expect until I got there, but it turns out the car was really clean (for a 21 year old car). The typical dings and scratches here and there, and a rusted sunroof panel, but I would give the overall appearance a 7-7.5/10.
The rex has a blown D16Z6 in it right now, and a single in / dual out exhaust, but that will change soon enough. I still have a few things I need to do to the coupe before I start on the rex, but I will get around to it soon enough.
I decided to name my rex Himashi, Japanese for 'daily' as that is exactly what this car will become in a couple of short months. Most of my money will be going into my coupe, but the rex won't disappoint, I promise! Be sure to check up on both of my build threads for updates, as I will be wrenching on both of them at the same time (although more slowly on the rex).
And now, some pics for your eyeholes:

The car came with all the cargo covers intact, OEM Tahitian Green floor mats (in good shape, just need a good cleaning) and the original owner's manual... clean title, no accidents, not a bad find at all.
Up first is a good cleaning and basic wear parts replacement... comments are appreciated, haters can jump in a lake with some cement shoes on. Thanks for looking!

I said really clean (for a 21 year old car). And yes, if a showroom fresh CRX is a 10/10, then my rex would be a 7 or 7.5/10. After a thorough detail and paint restoration, minor touch ups, and a new sunroof panel, it will be closer to an 8.5, but you gotta give me a chance to work on her first.
And as far as that exhaust goes, it will be thrown in the trash as soon as I put the motor in. And unlike ricers in Vegas where I'm from, it will be replaced with another exhaust.

Thank you. When I get around to it, it will be 100 times better. For now, the coupe remains my transportation and the rex is waiting for a few months. Got plans...

Well, it's been a little while since I bought the rex, so I figured it's time to start work on it. Not gonna be as fast as I had hoped, but it will get there eventually. This is NOT going to be a big budget build, I have my coupe for that. This will be something to get me from A to B.
I've decided to go for fuel efficiency with the CRX project, so most of what I do will be towards that goal. Future plans for it include weight reduction and a lean burn 3 stage VTEC D15B, possibly turbo. I saw this setup I'd like to replicate where the guy claimed 55+ mpg and 230 whp.

So anyways, the work has begun. I even ordered the very first 2 parts for HIMASHI today. Pics of them when they come in. Nothing serious, just a little something to get started with.
Began gutting the interior today. Still have alot to go.

I will be removing everything, all the way down to the paint. Will keep you guys posted on the progress.
