So since picking up the gunmetal type r wheels ive been looking for a set of jdm itr gunmetal H center caps... found a couple people with them brand new but no one wants to sell and found a couple used sets but were not in the greatest condition. Ended up talking with a buddy and he told me he had a set painted black that he’d sell so figured thatd be my best option and just get them painted and hopefully one day ill find a set of gunmetal caps brand new , also took her out for a nice ride the other day and took a couple photos.
Been a while but got a few parts for when i get some time to replace eventually, new fuel filter with fuel line and bolts and a flywheel cover since mine didnt have one and the bolts also
Did her first oil change today since ive owned her so its alset for the winter and while i was changing the oil realized the tranny does have the flywheel cover i just ordered smh i know my first em1 didnt have one and for some reason i thought this one didnt either
Cars off the road for winter but with black friday sales at autofair honda i decided to pick up some things for my s2000 and couple things for the em1. New covers for the gas, brake and clutch pedals, center console armrest and i also ordered a set of brand new em1 civic si wheels and center caps. Got home and opened the boxes for the wheels and wasnt happy with the condition of “new” wheels one had a ding on one of the spokes , one wheel looked like it was sanded on one of the spokes even though it was smooth and all the wheels had imperfections in the clearcoat so sadly i returned them. As for the covers and armrest i got them installed except the gas pedal cover didnt realize it was a hard plastic instead of soft rubber like the brake and clutch pedals and didnt have any tools with me so ill have to finish that another day but the armrest looks so nice and wasnt too expensive id advise anyone looking to restore their em1 to order one quick before they’re gone!
( carpets a little dirty need to vacuum it but cars no longer on the road for new england winter )
A long overdue update but have just been driving and enjoying the car, i ended up ordering a new windshield cowl that ive been wanting to grab for a while but have slacked on but finally got it and looks great!

Wheels - check
Tires - in cart to order
all new oem brakes, rotors and calipers - in cart to order
an expensive resto that most people
wont notice as im just replacing whats already there but seeing as im expecting to keep this car for life i just had to get brand new wheels it only seemed right and the current rotors/pads were replaced by previous owner with NAPA parts, while they are still in good condition with plenty of life the rotors are rusted and i didnt want to put new wheels on rusted rotors and while im doing that might as well new pads and ofcourse doing all that have to freshen up the calipers
Got everything i need to refresh the brakes except the rear pads hopefully theyll be in by next weekend. Also picked up this rust remover product and tried it on the power steering hose, came out pretty good i think, replaced with new bolts while i was messing with it. First photo is from before i used the product for reference
Couple photos of the calipers
W0W!🥰 Beautiful looking restoration on the calipers my guy. I'm full of questions however how can one learn if they dont ask. Looks like all the hardware is new as well. How did you clean the your calipers up. Are they coated with a powder coat? What is your ETA on completing the car? Your restomod is outstanding. Quality of work top grade. Attention to detail is highly applied here. How many years have you been on the build and what is the investment cost. I took the short cut on brake by installing wilwood all the way around. A cost I didn't plan on but I couldn't get the rear combination I wanted with the oem rear brake components. The rear e-brake cables was something I wanted to delete. My first time around with the front brake I went with the huge wilwood 12.2" rotors and 6 piston calipers. Come to find out I could only get 17" wheels to fit over them so that was a waste of $1000 dollars. I sold the set and took a sizable loss of money. Nobody really wanted them. I sold them to install the more reasonable wilwood DPHA 10.3" disc/ 4 piston calipers set up. My i.g. is jimhiscott65. Do you have a I.G.?
i actually bought new remanufactured calipers , the fronts came in a different color so i taped off and painted them all the same color. They came with the new hardware also. Dont really have a time table for the build im just going along as i find things to do im pretty happy with the way it is but i think after the new wheels and brake setup is done it’ll be pretty much finished. THe Brake calipers have a great iem look. The value of your EM1 completed is going to have a substantial value $$$ when done. Hang on to the car. In 10 more years it's going to bring the price of some current classic CTR AND ITR Honda's. Personally I would never part with it.

yeah im not worried about the value theres no price that would make me think of selling, which is why im spending the money on new oem Si wheels i figure if im having the car for life might as well get the wheels new before they’re discontinued. I had a 99 si as my first car back in 2011 and while it never gave me problems and was low miles (67k) but it was keyed from a previous owner and they took the insurance money and left car as is. The EM1 was that dream car for me throughout high school and when i sold my first one back in 2012 i knew i wanted another some day but had to be EBP and clean. 7yrs later and finally stumbled upon this one.
Looks like your putting everything back to oem. Great choice. The EM1 has a lot more value all oem then anything. Glad to hear your not selling. Same with my build. I would never recover the $25k I'll have into it. I acually bought a EM1 to build the 95 couoe. I needed the midshaft, cylinder head and transmission along with a few other items. Why people ask me? Why not just build the EM1? The answer to that is weight. Every new generation of Honda gets heavier and heavier do to EPA and DOT regulations. The drag coefficientcy is also less with the Ej body compared to the Ek. Our goals are different is all. I did care about what happen to the EM1 after I got rid of it. I gave it to a good friend of mine who wanted to restore the EM1and that he did. It turned out beautiful after completion. I was very pleased to see he kept his word. 🙂😇🥰
Got to install the rotors, pads and calipers today, was so smooth and easy seeing as previous owner had them replaced about 2-3k miles ago but with all NAPA parts. So all the rotor set screws came out with ease which in my experience are always a P.I.T.A. Little spray wax on the trailing arms, dust shields and suspension springs and it cleaned up so nicely. All in all very happy cant wait to get the tires for the new Si wheels and finish up this part of the build!
