Icon6 CRX tubed chassis h2b build thread

I HAVE DECIDED TO SELL THIS VEHICLE DUE TO JUST HAVING MY SECOND CHILD AND DEFINITELY DONT HAVE TIME TO MESS WITH THIS BUT REALLY WANT SOMEONE TO ENJOY IT LIKE I THOUGHT I COULD. PM FOR PRICE! I WANT THIS TO GO TO A SERIOUS BUYER/BUILDER. IT DESERVES SOME GOOD POWER!

hey this is my first ever build thread posted on here. i have done quite a few just never really thought to post them on here. well i just acquired a 1990 honda crx si tubed chassis with 1 piece fiberglass front end and fiberglass rear hatch and fiberglass doors all with lexan windows all around. it has a solid rear axle with drum brakes and a four link set up with pan hard bar. custom afco rear coilover suspension. front is tokico blue struts with coilover set up(not sure what brand). front brakes were gone along with the brake lines, just came with the knuckles and hubs with extended studs. also it came with wheelie bar set up(missing one support bar). looking for opinions on this build...engine, brakes, body.

please feel free to post any input you feel might be beneficial to my build.

the drivetrain i have set for this car is for sale and is one that i had set for my daily driver which is a h22a4 motor with mahle gold series(sleeve-less) pistons and scat rods with kaizenspeed balance shaft removal kit, polished crank with oem bearings, head has had a light port and polish with stock valves, springs, and retainers.

the car has custom mounts already fabbed for a b series drivetrain, plus has mounting for an intercooler and hole in the one piece front end for a large intercooler. currently (5-14-10) the front suspension is off the car, a friend has it all at his machine shop sand blasting it all and painting it all semi gloss black and new bearings on the hubs. extended studs on front, standards on rear.

NEWER PICTURES AFTER CLEAN UP (posted 11-16-09)

thanks for looking.

looks like a good score! i'm in for seeing how this works out for you. the motor sounds pretty mild, but the weight of the rex will help a ton.

good luck with it!

yeah like i said i had it already sitting around to go in my DD. still weighing options though and actually looking to start on a pretty aggressive turbo h22 setup. just need the funding!

this will probably be one of the slowest build threads you have ever seen, i have a 2 year old and another due Dec. 8th so my attention will be elsewhere for a while.

that chassis would be perfect for a turbo setup. you wouldnt need much either 4-500hp would net you a low 10sec to mid 9 depending on what the actual weight of that chassis is.

dont feel bad on the slow build, i've got one little guy and i know where your coming from. i say put the motor you already have built in and go have fun. dont worry about doing it big first time around.

i think thats what i am gonna do and in the mean time have something in the works.

and yeah you will see in the pics i will post later the oem steering wheel is gone. the seat has to be moved from where whoever sat in it last time, im 6'4" and with that steering wheel i cant get in so i have to put in a removeable one.

posted new pictures in main post, they arent exactly new but are after i got it home and off the steelies and beginning of cleaning it up and fixing a lot of small things while i wait on money to fix larger things.

my wife bought me a sand blasting cabinet for xmas it just sucks she wont let me open it until xmas. seeing as how she is pregnant and baby is due Dec 8th i may hold the garage over her head and say the sooner i can get the suspension components ill let her use the garage so her and the babies (no twins, we have a 2 year old) dont have to get in the cold!

talked to a performance shop a few streets over from where i live and they have a guy with a mobile tig welder that is gonna come look at what i have going on and weld my motor in. SOLID MOUNTS FTW!!!
