'96 Civic Project Thread
Hint: Don't search something in the google toolbar on your HT post window. You'll lose everything you've typed.
Anyways, I've been here on HT mostly just looking at different builds and doing extensive research on different swaps, and now that I've bought a Civic to replace my Tercel, I thought I'd post my small projects here. VVV
First off, I removed the tint. It looked great at night from 50 feet away, but during the day, or while inside the car it looked ghastly. I used a razor blade and windex to get it all off. Real easy, but time consuming. VVV
I removed all the center plastic between the seats and found this. VVV
I also removed the stereo one of the previous owners installed and holy hell was it ever special. It looks like a half-brained ape installed it. They cut the harness right after the plastic cover and crimped the stereo wires to them. I'll be extending these back to stock with a junk yard plug/wires. VVV
And also, here's someones version of "short shifter", I'll be getting a stock shifter from the wreckers to fix this one. VVV

id get those headlights replaced with OEM ones, and definitely that shifter lmao

I'm def replacing the headlights, I hate them. The shifter is being replaced as well, I want an actual threaded shift **** instead of those crappy set screw ones.
and yeah the spoiler is stock, what makes you think it's not?

Re: '96 Civic Project Thread (kp)
ive never seen one like that before, but i see your in canada, so that may be why.
Mine is completely flat across the top in line with the roof, instead of being raised in the center where the brake light is. And it kinda looks shorter than mine too.
Ive got a 97 hatch and mine looks like this: (not the best picture but it gives you an idea haha)

that is strange, good eye though man haha. could be a canada style thing or maybe it was a design change between 96 and 97?

Thanks. just googled it and found that it does seem that the CX and DX models have different spoilers. You learn something everyday lol

Re: '96 Civic Project Thread (kp)
Continuing on the theme of fixing little things that annoy me, I went to the wreckers today to grab a used shifter assembly from another Civic, however I got there and discovered they were already closed.
I came up with a simple solution to the previous owners crappy idea of a short shifter. I bought a 10mm x 1.5 tap at Canadian Tire for $6 and 2 matching bolts from Home Hardware (1 to use, 1 for spare).
Because the previous owner chopped the shifter down a few inches, I needed to buy a fairly long bolt to thread into it. The threads of the bolt ended up being about 2.25 inches total. This seemed long enough.
We took some pictures along the way to show how.
The new shift **** (from an Australian 1983 Honda City I used to own), the 10mm x 1.5 tap, and the two bolts (one already trimmed). vvv
The ghastly left overs of a once normal shifter. vvv
First drill out the center of the already hollow shifter with the appropriate bit size. vvv
Tap the newly drilled hole. vvv
Tap more. vvv
Look at your hard work. vvv
Mix up some JB Weld. vvv
Thread in your bolt. vvv
Throw out the old crappy piece of crap of a shift ****. vvv
I couldn't thread the new **** on right away because of the fresh JB but you get the idea. vvv

Re: (kp)
looks pretty good, but i would have opted for a normal boot personally.
I like that though, and i would just add something to kinda clean up the top of the shifter near the ****. Not sure what though, but just something to clean up the shaved metal look of it haha

Bahaha, man I know. It's quite grotesque. I just threw it together to show what it'll look like.
SET SCREW SHIFT ***** BE GONE!
