So I picked up a 1994 hatchback from a guy on craigslist for 800 bucks. The car didn't run at all. I took it to a shop and had them throw in a new-used D series motor in it. I've been looking on craigslist and running around junk yards trying to find the small pieces I need to get it back into shape.

My main goal for now is to just have a clean DD while I'm in college. After I graduate I'll do a whole new build.

This is my first hatch of this generation, I previously had two coupes.

On the truck to get a new motor


New motor (with a valve cover I had color matched to my old coupe) The engine still needs to be cleaned up a ton. I may try to tuck the bay while I'm off of school this summer.


I found some interior pieces I needed at the local junk yards ( Ignore the ugly floor, we are in a crappy rental right now)


I also picked up a new tailgate. I was lucky to find one the same color as my car for 30 bucks on craigslist. This was my old one...


I installed the new one, but I still need to get it lined up correctly.


I installed some new "spoon" style mirrors.


I picked up a set of mudflaps from the junk yard. Ran me 20 bucks for the set. One had a rip in it so I am repairing it. I am also repainting all four.


I went to the junk yard this morning and came out with two other hatches parked next to me. I thought it was pretty funny.

I'm still working on the interior, it was in pretty bad shape. I'm going to recover the door panels and prob buy new carpet. It should be a good little car. I was driving around 60 miles a day for work and school in a car that only got 16MPG. So I'm glad ill be driving this car. I should be getting high 30's.

I'll keep this updated with the work I do.

 

Interior shot. The PO must have kicked the dash or something. I'm also disappointed that my arm rest came out the wrong color. I need to find a darker blue. No one around my area has the SEM paint

 

Try to find yourself a 92 dash with out the air bag. also if you look some of VX and cx have a left side rear diffuser. Good luck with your build.

So I met a guy from craigslist who was selling a carbon fiber duck bill spoiler. I bought that from him then found out he had far more items for sale.

I picked up a set of koni yellows with skunk two springs, I also got a rear disk brake conversion and some other misc parts. I also picked up some LS webs as well. Biggest thing I bought was a B18C from him. I will prob store the motor until I really want to swap it in. Ill post pics of the motor this weekend.

Swapping the rear disks brakes was a bit of work, I've never done them before.

Heres what it looks like now, the duck bill is going on tomorrow.

 

I guess I also forgot to mention that I picked up a set of EK sideskirts and a EX front lip as well. It should come together nicely.

I've been doing small things to the hatch over the past couple months. I've installed my spoiler and built a cargo cover. I also picked up some small odds and ends from the junk yard and repainted some trim. I'm still waiting to pull the B18 from my buddy. I ran the vin on the engine and its a 96 spec type R B18C. Should be pretty sweet when i get it swapped in.

I picked up some more stuff for the car today. Went to Honda and got color matched bumper plugs, Oil and a filter and Paradise green paint. I'm going to paint the calipers, i feel the car needs a bit of color on the outside.

So the deal with the B18 deal fell through. Kinda bummed, but i didn't really need it.

My passenger seat reclining mechanism broke, I looked on craigslist and found some new seats. Dark Blue S2000 seats, I'm going to wait till winter break and swap the seat pans and get keyed lock bolts for the seats.

 

Nice build here! Way to not go "race black" with the interior, like 95 % of the other EG builds on the planet.

I was almost going to swap out to black interior, but I thought blue was unique.

About the license plate, I installed the bumper plugs because i think it looks cleaner. I still wanted to keep a front plate, I may move it and put in on the front windshield.

I took a couple fall pictures down by the lake today. It was an awesome view this morning.

I started to test fit the s2000 seats in my hatch. I think I am going to install them the right way by swapping the seat pans. I also had a lady back into my car and smash one of the turn signal lenses. I ordered amber turn lenses because I couldn't find any stock ones local.

(I need to find some paint that better matches the interior panels. My arm rest sticks out super bad since the S2000 seats are thinner.)
