Default 1989 Hatch Si Build Thread

Ok ive had this car for about 2 months now and i love it. Its a 1989 Honda Civic Si. Still has the stock D16a6 and has 260k. Its alot of miles but i only paid $900 for the car itself. Plus the body had barely any damage and hardly any rust. Plus the interior is in great shape. Anyways, imma post pictures in order from when i bought the car until now.

Ok this is the car right when i bought it. It had 3 17 inch rims on it(which were ugly as hell) Also just had tune up, oilchange, and brakes.

First thing i did was take the 17's off and put some stock 13's on it. (later got rid of the ugly euros)

The hood had pretty bad damage. Someone had bondoed it. So we started sanding it. Also had lowered the front sometime before this.

Riding around no hooding it while the hood was being fixed.

The hood looked alot better here.

Painted the hood.

Traded the euros for OEM tails and got the whole car lowered on KYB struts and ebay springs for now.

Another angle of how the car sits now.(the dent in the door is the only big dent in the whole car.)

One more angle of the cars current state.

Still have alot of work to do to it.
Im going to either build the **** out of the a6 or get a F or H series motor swap. Also imma lower it another 2 inches probably.

ok fixed the problem. Just a manifold gasket that wa bad.

Also probaly going to stick with D Series and buy a D16Y8 or Z6 engine or other D Series Vtec motor. Doing a simple swap and then going to lower it another 2 inches probaly and buy some wheels.

New update.
i know i cant make my mind up but ive been researching the Mini-me swap and im goin to do it sometime soon. Also ill know tomorrow but should have a set of wheels for my car for really cheap.

And it turned out it wasnt the manifold gasket but the head gasket. Blew it 2 days after putting the manifold gasket on and got a new one and put it on the next day. She runs good now.
Getting her prepped for the journey to Import Alliance

Looks like you're going in the right direction, keep it up and make sure to research parts before committing yourself to buying cheap inexpensive parts!!!

Definitely true! This car is good enough to get the right parts the first time.

Update. \
i know it has been awhile since i have posted. But quite a bit has been done since then.

I slammed the hatch on Skunk2 Struts and ebay coils, front and rear camber kits, i have 15x8 diamonds for it just got to buy tires, and also got the whole exhaust redone with shakotan style the car is getting to where i want it.

Heres some pictures after a long time without any.

I did a rising sun design on the fender and bought some 15x8 +12 Offset Diamond Racing Steelies. Rear and front camber kits, and had them painted Satin Lagoon Green.

This is right before i ripped my exhaust off pretty much. When i lowered it on the skunk2 struts and ebay coils. Full body coils coming soon. And i dont miss this exhaust setup, I still have the diamonds just have to buy tires for them going with 165/45 i think.

This is on the lift at the exhaust shop. After i ripped the exhaust off and the resonator dragged for a week. It was loud as hell.

I love the new exhaust setup. It was last minute decision, and im loving the "Boso" "Shakotan" look. Just need to get my diamonds back on it.

I have to buy motor mounts soon. Just going with oem because i am not hard on this car at all, nor do i plan on making it a "racecar"

Really debating on painting the engine bay when i do the motor mounts. How hard would it be?

UPDATE

I sold my diamonds for a really good price considering how bad the tires were, and found some clean XXR 501s i liked and purchased them. I should have took pictures of us putting the wheels on of my suspension and what not, but i forgot.
The XXRs are 15x8 +10 Offset, and they look great on my hatch. Really happy on how it came out.

This is the only picture i have right now but i will post more in a day or so, im really stoked how these came out

Not into it.
Poor hatch. Went from a rice mobile, to a stanced scene car.

Why did you swap out some of the best seats honda ever produced?

Import Alliance is coming up fast in Atlanta, and im steadily preparing for it.

Ordered my amber corner lights over the weekend
Planning on going to the junkyard and looking for a volvo lip.
Also repainting the hood black, and the bottom of the hood yellow.

i didnt the previous owner did. I wish who ever had it before me knew anything about how hard 89 si seats are to find. Id way rather have the OEM si seats then that crappy racing seat. but in my opinion my ef has came a long way and i enjoy it. we all have our opinions though.
