Default ECU setup? mugen chip experience?

My lsvtec is .25 over itr pistons/cams i/h/e the whole 10. My ecu is a pr3 w/mugen chip. My first question is what is a good ecu setup is pr3/mugen good? I think it could be better but I think that may take a vafc and I dont want to spend close to three hundred right now.

My other part of the question is to those who use the mugen program how is your experience with it?

VAFC and PR3 should be fine.

If you have capable tuners hondata would be $ better spent

I would be happy with a mugen program. Tis it is better to be running rich than it is to run lean

I sold my mugen chipped pr3 to a friend with an ls-vtec. It ran rich, but it pulled pretty hard in his integra, even though his motor was pretty stock. He has since moved to a custom chip but for the time being it was a good program.. just kinda kills your gas mileage.

I have a spoon chipped P13 ECU. What I can say is the advanced timing curves make a difference! Tuned with a VAFC would make an even bigger difference! (mine is running rich also)

if you are going to use that chip I would use a fuel contoller/vtec and tune it out or consider going to hondata or uberdata something programmable

every one has covered basically everything I was going to say. I would definately look into a vafc if you cant afford hondata, just so you can tune down the program/air and fuel maps because you will definately run very rich. obd 1 or obd 0 pr3?

well i have been running the obd0 pr3 mugen spec ecu for about 15 yrs ,and let me tell you that the only way i can describe that ecu compared to a stock pr3 or pw0 obd0 ecu is that its day and night performance upgrade especialy when your running the type r cams and type r vtec sol8noid
and intake manifold and the sir b16 head.
which is what my.b20 vtec crx is running.it is a party in your pants.
In order to.run the the vtec head and keep your obd wiring you have to run the jdm pwo or the pr3 and you will have to have the 2nd o2 sensor deleted and the also the knocksensor at the very least in order for you to be happy with the perfomlrmance of your build..i am running msd 2 step with external cap and nology ignition moduale and coil alsowhich accomidates the mugen spec tremendiously and saves you a bunch of money from having to.chamge it over to obd1 p28 ecu which has to be programed also.
i have been very impressed with my.oem jdm ecu swap compared to other people.that went p28 and they cant even keep.up period
