Default compression Problem.

2 months back i had a spun bearing in my B16A do i replaced the block with another block which have low miles on it,

I Installed the head on the block, and started the car for about 10 min or so, after that i did a compression test.

1.150
2.150
3.150
4.148

Head,

I have crower stg.2 cams and cam gears. i have used single layer head gaskit.

A friend of mine said that its because of bad head gaskit, i agree with it,

But why all 4 cylender are Same. I have seen bad compression results but there is always a big difference between all the cylinders..

My cam gears are set at 0,0 right now.

because of the single layer i they should have to be at +2/+2 to compansate the cam timing....

On the other Hand,
the car Idels perfect. no temp issue till now...

err... i'm getting 10.99.1 CR for your motor
10.9:1
So.. i would expect a tad bit higher, around the 180ish or so..
But ya, for ever .20th taken off the head you advance your gears +1..

With eveniness of the results, I would say this block is okay. How old is the motor? It could be the rings are just well worn. I would try to tune the motor to see what it is capable of.

150 on your compression tester is really hard to say anything definitive. I've seen 1.6L with a 150 even compression test number push 155 whp.

if your block is stock, with the bigger cam , you may actually be ok with those readings, also did you do the compression check with the gas down (throttlebody open)??

I am going to do that,

Yea All of those reading were with OPEN Throttle.

well when i noticed that pistons where coated with lot of carbon which i cleaned with kerosene oil.

Try the test again. Do each cylinder by itself, and then repeat the test with a drop of oil. If all readings improve, your rings might be gone.

Keep in mind that the longer duration of the Crower 2 cams will decrease your cranking pressure. Any adjustment of your mechanical timing will also affect cranking pressure.

Your numbers look fine to me. In any case, aim for consistency instead of a target number.

I added oil in it and
the result is..

300
250

I forgot to mention that the block i am using was sitting since last 2 or more years...

well that test shows you you have a ring problem...the oil is helping to seal the compression rings so without the oil the rings aren't sealing enough,

to be honest unless your burning oil, really you could drive it for a long time, really isn't gonna be a problem unless it starts burning oil.

Maybe that's why you have bad rings.
