Default clutch masters aluminum flywheel gouge's?!

There are gouge's in the flywheel as if the previous owner had used a table vice to hold the flywheel to replace the friction surface. Imagine them being less than 1/16 deep. all over the backside. This is a friends car who i am helping replace a clutch and found the flywheel looking like this. car was recently purchased and we never abused it just yet.

question being is it safe to run?
