when i turn on the headlights in my 04 tsx the headlight starts out at the normal blue color and after about 5 seconds seems to get a little brighter and change to a purple color. i tried changing the bulb and it did nothing. any idea whats goin on? igniter wire or control unit?

why would pics help? its purple. i swapped igniter wires and it didnt change so im gonna buy the control unit/ballast tomorrow

 

aren't hid lights suppose to do that?

are you using stock bulbs? if they're purple they could be aftermarket bulbs.

 

i thinks thats how they are. mine are the opposite tho. they start with a flash then get dimmer. ive seen bmw's and others do the same

weird that they get dimmer. Could be the bulbs are getting old and starting to dim.

That flash you see is a spark that's created to ignite the gas inside the bulb. As it warms up, the light gets brighter. That is why you always see the color or light output change.

 

when hid bulbs light up, it starts with like a blue color then changes. what is the kelvin of your hid?

 

If they're purple at full temp and are anything other than 12000k bulbs (or similar kelvin) they're probably on their way out. Were the bulbs you changed them with new or old?

 

I thought the ballast is always the culprit when it comes to bulbs changing color at certain temps.
