AWD TSX?
Anyone hear Acura is gonna offer AWD on all models to further differentiate itself from Honda? Someone I know said they read it somewhere. I'm interested in a TSX, but if they are gonna have AWD available next year (model year 2006), I may as well wait.

Yes, I've heard that rumour.
On the other hand, I've also heard about the 240 HP - 260 HP TSX Type S, and have even heard that there are driving models running around...but it's still not clear when, if ever, we'd actually see that or AWD for sale in the dealerships.

An AWD Type S TSX would be the rocks. That would be so hard core. I would love it. How are you so sure it wont happen before 2008?
I think that it would be the best competitor for the WRX for sure if they did.

Everything I can find about the Acura RL seems to indicate that they know what they're doing with AWD, that they waited long enough to do it that they got it right.
Maybe we have something really neat to look forward to.

That Type S model, would it still be a K24 or would it be a V6? I doubt Honda would tune one of their four cylinder motors for that much hp.....then again there is the S2000....hmmmm....

Sorry to just butt into your alls forum. But, I think the reason it will not happen til 2008 is because Honda/Acura platforms almost always run for atleast 4 years. And I don't think Honda could fit a drive shaft and rear diff under that car without some major modifications.

Why wouldn't they? the k24 is a 2.4 ltr. honda has done a ton of engines with at least 100hp per ltr. b18c5, b16a/b, h22a (type s), k20a2/r, the list goes on and on.... soooo, that being said, it could easily do it.

i doubt that they will make a TSX S have 240 hp let alone 260hp til its next generation. It would defeat the purpose of the 3L accord.
Also the TSX will remain a 4 cyl that differentiates it from the TL.
last honda now does 5yr generations starting with the ek/ej civic. we wont see a 2nd gen TSX til 08 if they decide to keep going with it. I think it is likely that if they do make a TSX type S it will use IMAs. Think about it IMAs are the future for honda, year after year honda will probably introduce a new hybrid. Next year they will have the CRV based acura mini-suv that will more than likely include IMAs, after that the RL will probably recieve a MMR with IMAs. If acura plans on keeping the RSX after 06, IMAs will pretty much be their only option, aside from creating a new motor (k22?) since the increase in the civics displacement has already been confirmed to 1.8 and a 200hp k20.
and once the ridgeline is introduced Im sure it will recieve IMAs to help it keep up with all the huge *** domestic v8s.
Personally i'd like to see every car in the honda/acura lineup be hybrid by 2010 (beating toyota to the punch)

The TSX is available since 2002 as EDM accord, so maybe we get the AWD in 2006. There where also rumors about a turbocharged 250HP engine as JDM/EDM accord type-r.
