insurance Company Rip Off, or Not?
i have a 2009 Acura and after a somewhat minor impact the passenger seat air bag deployed.
The body shop is replacing all the bags and sensors with new parts and have actually started on the work.
Now the insurance company calls and says after deployment the seat frame needs to be replaced per "factory recommendation" and now the insurance company wants to total my car.
The body shop contacted the dealer and the frame is not sold as a replacement part, only the entire seat at $1300.
The parts counter man said he had never heard of this and has sold many bags and sensors.
Does anyone know if in fact the "Factory" reccomends replacement of the seat frame?
If they do not, any idea where I could find what parts they do recommend replacing?
The insurance company fought me on totaling the car to begin with even though the damage was well below the 75% Maryland state law requires.
I think they are trying to get out of fixing it, despite the fact that work has already started.
Thanks,
robj
