Default CEL problem

So Im out driving my moms car (95 Legend sedan) and I notice that the CEL is on. It seemed strange to me because everything still ran perfectly. After parking the car and starting it again, the CEL was gone, so I figured no big deal. I then noticed that it came on again. Long story short, the CEL comes on when the car reaches about 48-50 mph, regardless of RPM, and the car runs just fine after it comes on. I found it a little bit odd that the CEL goes away when you turn the car off. Any ideas?

Well... normal procedure is to retireve the code, then perform diag. But i do know those year legends have issues with the Vehicle speed sensor. Possible issue, the way your describing it. If you give me the code i can point you in the right direction.

It's normal for a Legend CEL to go off when the car is turned off and restarted. It only comes on again when the problem reoccurs. The code should still be stored in the ECU memory though. You need to bridge the 2 pin connector on the pass. floorboard area at the top edge of the carpet, usually attached to the metal bracket over the ecu. You can use a paperclip or small wire to do this. Once the connection is made across the 2 pins and you turn the key on (don't start it, just turn it on), the CEL will flash a number of times indicating the code. I would guess an EGR code based on your description.

The CEL will illuminate for a problem, if the problem fixes itself then the light will go out but the code will still be there, blue connector flash procedure please as mentioned.

You have to understand a drive cycle and it is to deep in theory for me to explain but I believe that you will have a code stored.

I just dont understand why it comes on at a certain mph, regardless of RPM. That just seems strange. Wotn be a while til I get that code. I dont have enough to to screw with my own car let alone somebody elses =\.
