why not get a 12v LED?
I think it would have been alot easyer to just pickup a 12v LED rahter than doing the math on which resister you need to make 2 volts.

Um, transistors have 3 leads, the"transistor" shown has two. I dunno it's pretty unclear. I don't understand why you need it anyway.......
Why it's there is also a good question.

All:
The "DIODE" is a one-way item. I put it in here so that if for some reason voltage tried to go the other way (i.e. bad short) the item would block it and it wouldn't screw up the ECU (the safe way). I know the LED would do this, however, I have seen voltage jump or "arc" LED's before, so this is just a precaution.
Concerning, why not to use a 12V LED or light. You could! I did on my old GSR. However, the mcd's are usually not as bright, nor is there a large selection.

Diode YES! BRAIN FART. It was a long day for me. Hey, check the picture out, I updated it. The resistor is approximately 560 Ohm. Anything near it or match the color bands and you should be set. If using a 5 Volt LED, get a 260 Ohm or such. This is what I did with my Blue LED for my VTEC Light in my car (picture shown on clock pod cover).

itr0677: do you live in the schmidt road/remington blvd area? I think I've seen you driving around before. I work in bolingbrook as well. I drive a white GSR.
