Well, considering they have a 5 year/100,000kms powertrain warranty in Canada, who cares !

I understand the R is 10 year old technology, but still... I don't want to be out-accelerated by these new faggy cars!@

110hp/liter on an Naturally Aspirated isnt really outdated, consider

F20C on S2000 (AP1) 120hp/liter
BMW M3 100hp/liter
Ferrari F430 108hp/liter

The cars you mentioned above all have some sort of FI. With turbo, you can pretty much get as much HP as you want. Of course the more apparent problem of ITR is the small displacement (1.8L), which limits the output. Wonder why they use K20A now?

Why not turbo it? It is the best and cheapest way to get power. Just dont over do it to the point that the car power skid and understeer like a pig in corners

Looking into that, and a JRSC. i'd be happy enough with 250-260whp.

By no means is my ITR a slouch, iv personally fed it to numerous 40 year olds in their G35Coupes, and hung with a 350z.

We all crave a lil more tho, no?

For road courses, a small turbo should do the job better than a supercharger. Faster response. Also if you are into big power turbo is also more flexible.

Some numerical data on the cars:

Caliber SRT4
Weight: 3350
HP: 300
Lbs Per HP: 11.17

Mazdaspeed3
Weight: 3150
HP: 263
Lbs per HP: 11.98

Integra Type R
Weight: 2650
HP: 195
Lbs per HP: 13.59

I personally have read great things about the Mazdaspeed3. It seems to be a closer relation to the ITR than others out now. It has limited production, better suspension, better brakes, etc. If something were to happen to my ITR and I were to look for similar type replacement I would consider the Mazdaspeed3.

You could also just build your ITR. Here are specs from my ITR last time I was at Roebling Road.

My ITR
Weight: 2311 (1/2 tank of gas w/o the drive on the scales at Roebling Road Raceway)
HP: 265 (at the crank, good estimate based on whp)
Lbs per HP: 8.7

Other cars for reference
C6 Corvette
Weight: 3179
HP: 400
Lbs per HP: 7.9

LS1 Z28
Weight: 3439
HP: 310
Lbs per HP: 11.09

WRX STi
Weight: 3351
HP: 300
Lbs per HP: 11.17

Evo MR
Weight: 3285
HP: 286
Lbs per HP: 11.48

It all depends on what you want to do with your car. There are many new cars out there that I would LOVE to have but I'm not ready to let my ITR go yet.

If you wanted a ***** out fast car, you picked the wrong car. ITR is designed for balance. All factors work in perfect harmony, engine performance, braking, suspension, aesthetics. It's a very well rounded car as is.

If you want to go fast, buy a DSM, drop a few grand into it, and run 10s.

If you want a FUN car, stick with what you've got.

Stop telling this guy to get another car like a SRT-4. People dont get ITR's just for the motor. He obviously likes the looks of the car, the handling, the brakes, the interior, etc...

Your not going to find another car like the ITR, so why not just keep it and Up the power? Then you'll have all of the above + Power

If you would do more than street race with your ITR, you would have a greater appreciation for it.

For starters, why not try taking your ITR out on a road course? There you will find that your ITR is fast than it may seem on paper.

Bradstard, great comparison chart!

Guys, ya got me all wrong! I love love love my ITR, there isn't anything as of now i'd trade it for, and TRUST me.. I can more then afford any car up to the 50g+ range as we speak.

I'm just simply stating that yes, with the newer cars out there and the high HP drivetrains, I believe its time to boost my bitch! I do sometimes participate in a fun street-race, of course nothing stupid like excess speeds and cuttin in and out of traffic, Just a friendly acceleration run from a stop. As mentioned, iv recently wiped the grins off of 2 G35 Coupes owners..

So as we speak, im confident im in the lower /mid 14's.

Edit: I shoul try a roadcourse actually.. next summer.

those newer cars are making more power, but they are heavier. a good power to weight ratio is what makes a car fast. the ITR was way ahead of its time and thats why it recieved the recognition it got. Even today, its still rated the best FWD car, never mind accomplishing this ALL MOTOR is so much more amazing. You are headed in the right direction and i will encourage you to put a turbo on the ITR. If your goal is 260 whp, you should have no problem hitting that number. good luck with it, and keep us posted.

By the way, I've beaten SRT-4s before. They're not that fast.
