Default Type One Header?

Opinions? I have a JDM 4-1 now, but was thinkign of getting the Type One 4-1. I looked at the great header test, but it's hard to do a good comparison by just looking at the peak numbers.

Thanks

p.s. I tried searhing already

I think the T1R header is a 4-2-1, first off.

Second... there have been about 3 threads in the last few months, no one had alot of info to share.

I'm buying one in the next month or so... Expect another goofy *** thread of me ******* around all day with it then going to Midas

Not much really seems to be known about the T1R header, only a few people on H-T have them, and according to the great header test it performs on par with the JDM DC... Mike M says it's a great header, so... We'll see what kind of gains I get with a full T1R system.

With all the new headers on the market, why is everybody still buying this jdm stuff that nobody really knows much about?

HAHAHHAHAHa..... juss brought back thoughts of your recent thread.... takes courage to share their tale....

About the T1-R.... if it's between the JDM 4-1 I'd take the T1-R ...nevermind the power gains cuz they are relatively similar..but the noise it makes is nice (hey you wanted to have some sorta determining factor right? GO RICER! )

It's lighter...that sure means something!

and it's nicer looking (BlangblAng )

ofcourse the last point is negated if you are lookin to go stealth.....

Waiting for mine from Mike at IPS
The T1R 4-2-1 and DC/JDM 4-1 are very similar performers (when compared on a stock R). I was very happy with my DC... till I put a pair of small dents in it Mainly, I was looking for ground clearance with the T1R. Plus, I heard when tuned, this header produces a bit more mid-range.

Id get T1r over JDM DC for many reasons

-better build quality
-BLING BLANG
-Better Sound, or so im told
-better clearance.

I was gonna get one until i got a great deal on a Spoon header

I spoke to Mike M. earlier this week about the T1R 4-2-1 header. I think he said he should be getting a shipment in about a month. Build quality looks great and I'm sure the performance is decent. I'm looking to get one for my "torqueless wonder" b16a2. I think xjohnx has/had one on his R. He had good things to say about it. If I could go all out, I'd get the Toda header. It is beautiful..

My issue is that I already have a JDM 4-1, so I am wondering if goign to the T1R would be a worthwhile upgrade.

hmm.. Tough call..You can sell your JDM 4-1 and buy the T1 header. Are you gonna do any engine mods in the future?

I plan on running A's in the future... So I think a T1R would do me wonders as oppose to the JDM DC header. *shrug* I kind of thing the great header test is rather invalid as they were just stock un-tuned runs. The crappiest header in the test could be the best header with tuning. I think if the build quality of the T1R header is anywhere near the quality of the exhaust I will be very happy with it even if it yeilds 2 peak horsepower less than the rest of the headers.

I fail to see how you can say that a JDM DC 4-1 would be worse off than a T1R 4-2-1 with Toda A's and obviously good tuning.

How do you know???

How would you know without trying? I've never seen dynos of a T1R and A's vs JDM DC's with A's. You get what you pay for... *shrug*

I agree. Anyway, I plan on running my car "STOCK"(IHE) and UNTUNED for the time being.

I did some analyzing of the data from the header test, will post it one of these days, and found the type 1 produces the most hp and torque out of all the headers from 5800 to 6800. However it does drop of a little after 8000 compared to the other headers. I hope someone has one at the expo. I'd like to take at peak.

Wow, those header tech headers do look nice. I like the thick flange on the primary side, too.

Keep your fingers crossed that mine comes in before the Expo... I won't have time to do any tuning though.
