Test pipe recamendations...
I here some test pipes cause CEL codes. Can someone recamend a test pipe made for a 97 ITR. Are test pipes pretty much the same, except for size variations?
I did a search and someone had www.testpipes.com and after going there I found a 2.5" test pipe with the following description...
POLLISHED 2.50",COMES WITH 2 02 SENSOR BOSSES WELDED RACING ONLY NOT FOR EMMISSIONS OR STREEY USE OFF ROAD ONLY
It seems that the sensors would fit in fine and not cause a CEL. But it says Welded, does that mean the test pipe itself must be welded into place, or the sensore bosses are welded on?
Thanks for the help...

i would also like to know this, i have a jdm 4-1 and i want test pipe that i can use with an and aftermarket cat back exhaust, i dont care about the cel, i already have an obd1 ecu
well, there are alot of companies that makes test pipe. yes, most gives u the CEL. if u dont want the CEL then, u have to either go to obd1 or get a o2 simulator. comptech and T1R makes pretty good test pipes.

Test pipes will throw CELs cause the second O2 is looking for Cat efficiency. Not cat = CEL. YOu can trick it with a resistor or go to OBD1 like mentioned above.
Testpipe.com is ****.
DO NOT buy from them unless you go there to test fit and pick it up.
I had TWO orders cancelled because they didn't bother to send me a tracking number, and I found out they had never made the pipe. Third try since i had to have something fast, it did not fit, I paid extra shipping to get it there fast (i was ENSURED that i would not be charged extra for this) and o2 bung was on the wrong end. I had to drill out the holes of the flange in order to get it to connect.
Total Junk. Bad quality, front flange to connect to header rattled and was too large, and BAD BAD customer service. It was also too long, they measured incorrectly and didn't really care to fix it.
I only got 'good' customer service by threatening to cancel orders and getting very pissed off at them, which I hate to do.

But if you want something quick, cheap, and one that works, just go to your local muffler shop they'll make you a test pipe in less tan 30 min, costs less than $30.

If my test pipe only looked like that....
I set mine on fire a few weeks ago, so now it looks worse. It will make a good fireworks launcher i guess.
Needed a break from installing GC/Konis on splitime's car....
All testpipes throw a code in OBD2.
I have a T.P. from Testpipes.com w/ the O2 bung that has a piece of cat material in it (for almost 2 yrs. now) and have never thrown a CEL on my P73 ECU.

Test pipe is a straight through piece of pipe. Straight pipe with catalyst in it is a funky shaped cat. No way around that. Test pipe + OBD2 = CEL.
If you wrap the o2 sensor in aluminum foil or use a piece of cat material, do you still need it in the o2 bung? because i plan to do an obd1 conversion later which won't require an o2 bung. But i need a test pipe right away.
Uhhhhhhh, .....no. The cat material does not penetrate the flow area. The pipe has a circular cross-sectional area all the way through......tell me another one.
