SWITCH TO HYTECH SETUP...?
I just had my C5 rebuilt with Jdm ITR pistons and balanced, head was P&P by steve at combustion contraption, Im running s2stg1 cams and Mugen Intake, header and exhaust, I know the hytech setup is 2.5" all the way through and I want to know will it support it without losing hp? by the way Im probably going to get the s300 and RC 310's....thanks for your input if you have any!
i don't think you'll see much in the way of gains going from mugen to hytech. it'd be 60mm vs 63mm, which isn't huge for allmotor.
it may be a little bit, but not enough to warrant switching, imo.
both are great though. I've been wishing for a 3" twinloop system forever now...
for flow and quiet, i'd like to try this system:

well I went the stg1's cuz the R is DD and I didnt want to put Ti retainers and have to change them out every 20-25k....I really wanted stg2's but the webpage said I needed Ti retainers...stock retainers would bottom out on the seals...
its kinda wierd that Dave B is running the pro1's when I asked the guys in the NA forum and it was like a no no to do it and I even asked the Skunk2 tech support,so I was kinda lost and thats why I went with stg1...

i have skunk 2 stage 2 with new OEM retainers also... You should have gone with stage2. I dont even think youd really gain that much with stage1s over the stock cams
yah I was like running in circles for bit trying to find out if I can or not..the tech guys at S2 said I cant and some of you guys are using stg2's with oem retainers....whats funny is that I sold my new stg2 set just a week ago cuz I didnt have enough info ....no Im using stg1,guess I have to shopping again
I am however, running Supertech valve springs and valves (but their valves are just OEM valves with some coating on them)
Not sure why they are saying "only to use the Ti retainers" I sure as hell won't.
Stage 1's are very similar to the stock ITR cams. I would have at least gone with a stage 2, and used stock valvetrain.
Running a 98 Spec Type R motor Completely stock other then Rocket Motorsports M22XX Cams Rocket Motorsports Valve Train , Hytech Header , 310 Injectors Tuned on S300 I have 213 Hp To the wheels on a DynoJet 224 Dyno.
I think the header is a decent investment I am Happy With my power gains with very very little done.

but every ine says its worth the money 2 of the homies run there header and they love them im going to order my set up soon but its hard to let the mugen go hahah

the only thing with mugen parts every one wants them so you can make your money off of it but once its gone its gone ........ but its all for the sake of making more power right
nice pix btw

yeah I guess...lol, I really like the hytech because of the loop set up on the muffler and the power your can extract from the whole set up, I know there is other brands out there that are good too but I pretty firm on hytech...
With your build, you should go with Stage 2's or even Pro 1's.
If you don't want Ti, you could always go with Chromoly.
I'm running Portflow springs w/ Ti retainers and stage 2's, recently had my retainers inspected after 30k of abuse and there were no signs or abnormal wear whatsoever.
Most of the BS you hear regarding Ti is due to install error.
I prefer to use matching valvetrain components. However, if OEM retainers are the way you wanna go, be sure to measure your retainer to valveseal clearance.

if you want to know more about the rocket cams, speak with clean rice on these forums, he is a dealer and distributor for them, he can tell you all about their product line. As for the Hytech vs Mugen..... there really is no discussion, the Hytech will dominate the Mugen header. You will see gains just from swapping the header. John@Hytech really knows what he is doing and builds amazing parts.

I'd go with the Hytech. On the two occasions that I've been pulled over, not once has the cop ever mentioned a modified exhaust nor a loud exhaust (even with no cat).
It didn't keep me from getting my car towed tonight though, hah (for registration issues
