Steering problem
Hi, i seem to be having a problem with the steering on the Integra at the moment. The car pulls quite badlly to the left which i know is the tracking/camber and will be sorted soon with a buddy club camber kit and new rear trailing bushes.
But...
When its bumpy the steering wheel goes all over the place and it don’t feel very safe at all, like its loose. it has been getting worse over the last few months.
I have had a look twice over the weekend at all the suspension and bushes and they all seem very firm and well maintained. But we have noticed that if you move the alloy wheel side to side you can feel some play and knocking/noise, we then took the track rod end off and the play was not there any more. For this reason i believe the problem is in the rack. But this is only when the car is turned off, if you turn the car on u can not feel any play in the wheel as the power steering has pressurised it, causing no play not be felt. But Im thinking with the weight of the car and forces it may still be causing the problem.
I was just wondering is it right to have the play in the wheel when the car is turned off or not. This weekend i will be adjusting the steering rack as stated in the OEM Honda work shop manual to see if that makes it any better.
By the way the car is a 98 spec JDM ITR.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you MJ
