well, for all who were interested, I got the car started today. basically I just removed the wire from the (+) on the battery cleaned all the connections better and put it back together and it seemed to work. so the problem was really nothing all that interesting. thanks to all who gave their .02.

Clean the terminals and connectors with baking soda.

post if the same thing happens to you again. The same thing was happening to me, then it would go away for a while, then come back, etc etc. still haven't found a definate answer why yet.
