Default shift points

ok, so I've looked all around can can't find the RPM for each gear at which max power is made

something tells my murphy's law will rear it's ugly face when I'm sent a link to these stats which are totally easy to find but I just haven't been able to find this info...

Gearing has nothing to do with where peak power is made (Not to the point where you'd notice).

let me ask this....what calculations take place for a shift light on a tach to turn on and off? I've actually never sat down and gone through the details/functionality of tachs but I've always thought the shift light is enabled based on the determining the ideal RPM one should shift at.

it would seem to me that if I were to attempt to see how slow my car is I'd be shifting right before the engine stalls......has no one ever been interested when max HP and/or torque is attained for 1st through 5th gear? In such an equation I would have expected one of the key variables would be RPM's

Everycar will de a little different, so if you want to exactly know go to the dyno. Stock ITR cams stop making power around 8400.

What calculations take place for a shift light to come on?

Depends on the system. Some have "pills" for various RPM's to come on. It could be in the tuning. It can be manually set.

The best way to determine shift points is to put your car on a dyno and study the dyno sheet. Determine peak power, and when you'd shift, where you'd land in the next gear. Somtimes it will be past peak power...
