Decisions....decisions....
So spent the day with my wife and kids at Luray Caverns in Luray, VA. My Type R has become the family vehicle since I dont want to spend 85+ bux on gas for my Tahoe. We drove the R there to the caverns. Afterwards we grabbed lunch at a Hardees nearby. I was approached by someone in the parking lot, and he was into the import scene and asked to look at the car. I said sure. He checked it out inside and under the hood...and asked if I wanted to sell it, I was hesitant to answer. I said, "Well....its my daily driver....but if the money is right, I'll consider it. He asked how much, I said, $10K. He said, shoot I give you $11K! I said what?! really? I took his number down, and since I was really considering it since I do need a family CAR, not SUV.
So info on my car.....98 Type R. 188K on the clock, lowered with H&R's and bilstein's, dc sports headers 4-2-1 stainless, Apex-i WS exhaust, all stock internals, recently replaced starter, new cat. converter on it. Also it was just in an accident back in Jan of this year, has new paint on the new front bumper, all left side, and part of back bumper, steering rack needed to be replaced. I slammed up against a guardrail in some semi-heavy snow. Second 90K was done last summer about. I keep it well maintained. The paint is pretty rough, that clear coat is pretty much gone, except for the new paint from the accident.
I really love this car...Im the only owner ever. If I was in the real life Transformer movie this would be my bumblebee. I can drive this car from VA to CA and back and not worry about it breaking down or leaving me stranded. I was hoping to hold on to the car and pass it on to my boy, but he's only 3. LOL!
So I ask you my fellow R bro-mey's, what would you do? Sell or keep? $11K is a damn good offer for the car IMHO. Let me know, your answers may sway me! lol!

Re: Decisions....decisions....
It was tuff until I saw your cute kids. $11k for a 98 with 188k miles sounds like a good deal for you and nice down payment on something that will haul the kids around a lil better. I say, do it.

@Get Right: hehe! Thanks for the compliment! Yeah, I think I'm leaning towards selling, gotta make that sacrifice for my family. but its tuff! hehe!
@Blue: hehe! I couldnt help but think of Ben Stiller when I read your post. hehe!
@Mr. OB: LOL! Sorry, she does need a good clean up! she's happy on the inside, I washed up the seats according to that diluted woolite thread.
@gixxer: Yeah I know, it is good. I got the car for 23K brand new. I might call the guy and see if he was really serious. I just dont want get worked up to sell then he decides he dont want it. but we'll see
Thanks for the input guys!

Re: Decisions....decisions....
sell it, and i think they are selling lower mileage and in better condition itR's in the cars for sale thread right now, just scoop another one up that has less mileage.
i wouldnt sell and not buy another one though, i love my itR and the only reason i would sell is if i was given a great offer for it and it was enough to buy a cleaner one with that money.
just my 2 cents

LOL!!!!!! Crap! I was hoping more keeps than sells! heheh! I'll think about it for a few more days....not sure if the guy is for real or not. If I do sell, I wont buy another. And I'll just have to sell my spare parts. I have about 7 sets of OEM wheels for it, dont ask me why, I just do! heheh! And I have tons of little misc. stuff like emblems and decals etc.
Thanks everyone for your input! I'll keep ya updated!

Depends on how much you love the car. You had it since brand new, i'd have to hold on to it if I were you. I am the second owner of my R and bought it when I was 19, I couldn't imangine selling it no matter how much I hate it sometimes. But I'd keep it because money is replaceable and being the first owner of one isn't.

That damage wasn't too bad.
This comes down to what you want. That's a great deal for you IMO in the current market so it comes down to wanting the ITR more, or wanting a larger vehicle more.
Personally I think the ITR is safe enough but it's not the easiest car to deal with when you have to put car seats, etc in the back seat...

Re: Decisions....decisions....
he's right, I celebrated my 10th year of ownership 2 weeks ago and there's still that magic between us! If you think selling the ITR is the solution, it's not. Its paid for, its reliable, its yours. 11k$ won't mean **** 5 years from now when you miss it and feel bad you sold it in favor of a gas guzzling Tahoe you cant afford to fill up 5 years from now. The R is Cheap to fill up. Personally, im never selling my ITR because we've been through so much! I say dont do it, i can assure you your gonna miss it. Save up elsewhere and keep it! good luck with your decision!
