Default Resonated test pipe?

Is a resonataed test pipe jusy a resonator with flanges at both ends or is there more to this?

The reason I asked is because my system is 2.5 all the way though with no cat and is has a resonator in in already but it's really loud, I want my exhaust shop to make me one as they still own me a 2.5 inch test pipe.

Will another test resonator kill the power or will it do nothing to powerloss?

It shouldn't do anything in the means of losing power, gains may be slightly smaller than with a straight through test pipe however..

If it's too loud now, then you should get a resonated pipe. I don't think it will hurt performance w.r.t. a straight pipe. But I'm not sure about that.....

Use a 2.5" glasspack muffler. I picked one up for $25 at the local hot rod barn. They are straight through, so there is no effect on flow. Some guys even refer to these glasspacks as "resonators". A true resonator doesn't have any packing in it, but some have louvers in them that can reduce flow. I think the glasspacks keep it a little quieter than just a resonated test pipe.

The ones I can get have a perferated tube inside wrapped steel wool then packed with glass fiber shreds. Think I'll do this as it is too loud.

That is not really a resonator. True resonators don't have any packing in them. If you tap one it will make a hollow pinging noise. What you are talking about is a glasspacked muffler. I replaced my cat with one of those. I was very pleased with the results.
