Default Real quick question

to keep this type r related it involves my type r but anyways, how important is the dust cover for your brakes? i might put some calipers and these calipers involve cutting the dust cover. im too lazy to spend time doing that so i just want to remove it. is it okay to just take it off and not use it? thanks

if you can it doesn't hurt to bend them a little if you don't wanna remove the whole thing

From what i heard prior to my experience is that once you cut or remove the dust shields your brake rotors are no longer protected from the wheels 'throwing' up water onto them in the wet. This can cause the brakes to not work near as good IMO after i took them off so give yourself some more distance. The car will still stop but initial bite is horrible because water gets on the rotor. If you don't do Solo I or HPDE then it isn't worth it to cut them IMO
