Default problems already....

Hey guys i just got this car last sunday and it has a jdm b18c5(i think thats the code for the jdm type r motor), but yeah it ran fine and everything but now it has problems. The car will turn over and when i step on the gas it will rev, but once i get off the gas it will turn off. Electrical works and i checked the Intake valve plug and its plugged in. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The first thing to try is removing the IACV and cleaning it with some simple green or electronics cleaner. When I first got my B18C swap (JDM Type R), the IACV wouldn't idle the car either. After cleaning it, it began to work again. I've had it for a couple years and it's stil rather slow before the car warms up. When it first starts, the revs will drop below normal and slowly hunt around for proper cold idle speed. The important part is that it works...

B18C5 - USDM ITR
B18C - JDM ITR/GS-R

JDM engines do not have a suffix in the engine code consisting of a number.

Since you solved the problem why don't you post the solution here in case anyone else has this problem and finds the thread through the search?

I've had similar symptoms be fixed by replacing the fuel filter, and others needing timing adjusted. Is it heavily modified?
