Default OE ITR Shift ***** and the Differences - Discussion (Seriously)

Recently there was a topic posted in the Civic forum in regards to a shift **** seen here:

It's most definately an accessory **** offered for the Honda Prelude circa 1997/1998 or so, but people keep saying it's an "OE ITR shift ****" and I am not so sure.

I thought the 1997/1998 ITR **** was the same as the GS-R-L leather **** with the same "pistol grip" shape like all other Integras. I could be wrong but I thought I specifically recalled seeing this red stitched version in an accessory book at Acura when I worked there in 1997 when the first ITR hit our lot. I thought it was being marketed as an ITR accessory shift ****.

So a few questions for the ITR die-hards:

Exactly what does a 1997 **** look like?

Is a 1998 the same, and if not, what does it look like?

And to verify aren't the 00-01 the same aluminum style **** with the red shift gate numbers similiar to the Skunk2/S2000, correct? No differences between the 00 and 01 models too, correct?

I know it's a small detail, but hey ITR guys usually sweat the small details, right? I mean when I think of attention to detail and fanatical owners ITR owners are at the forefront in my mind.

That **** looks exactly like the OEM '97,'98 ITR shift ****. I still like this **** much better than the '00-'01 ****.

Tom, I responded to the other thread too. It is the Factory 1997-1998 shift ****. The only accessories that were available back in those years were the ricey colored aluminum billet *****. You can see some of them being marketed back in the days in the back cover of your Super Street or Sports Compact Car magazine.

If it's really that big of a deal, I can order a 1997, 1998, 2000-01 Shift **** and do a comparison.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I don't like to spread misinformation, so that's why I ask such seemingly bizarre questions like this.

Now I know.

dont forget the faux carbon fiber ****, had the a red "A" emblem and the shift gate in red on top, similar to the same shape but not leather.

I dont think the DC Sports ***** came out till closer to 2000 maybe '99, also had the spark plug cover, battery tie down, and oil cap.

<----Andrew who has the full set still in the package never opened!

Yeah, the faux carbon fiber Acura shift **** was a late 90's option. It had the same shape as the OEM GSR ****. It also stuck up just as high, as well.

Skunk2, DC, etc. released their S2000/00-01 ITR 'style' shift ***** after the 00 ITR hit the US shores. Then every ricer in their GSR was sporting one since it was cheaper than the OEM ITR ****.

I do like the 97-98 ITR shift ****, but does it sit down on the shift lever any further than the 00-01 ****? With the 00-01 ****, you have to use that bolt to get the numbers aligned correct, and that makes it sit up rather high.

Len...what's the going price on a 97-98 ITR ****?
