So, the secondary O2 sensor (after the cat) went bad on my 2000 Acura Type-R, so I went down to Napa and got what was labeled as a universal O2 sensor, it came with a universal wiring connector and all. Upon installing it, the CEL greeted me with error code P141, secondary O2 sensor heater. I consulted the helms manual, and it says to check the resistance on the O2 sensor, and if it is not between 10 and 40 Ohms, to replace the sensor. I'm getting about 2 Ohms of resistance.

So, it would seem that this O2 sensor is not as universal as it lead me to believe. I am assuming that I should probably go with an OEM replacement sensor here. Does anyone have the part number or a good recommendation as to where to buy one with the correct resistance?

Mail order from Baranco Acura in GA. Google it for the phone number. If you want one today, local Acura dealer, but it probably won't be in stock, and Baranco (ask for Len in parts) will be a lot cheaper.

 

hey, really quick. Does anyone know if you can order like, a civic Si primary or secondary O2 from Honda? Is it the same part?

The dealership I have locally REFUSES to order and sell me Acura parts. Even with the Honda part number (for PY touch up paint) they wouldn't do it. So anyway, I need a primary O2 sensor ASAP, and I was wondering if I could use like an Si one in a pinch?

 

Ive been using the Bosch one from Autozone for about a year w/no probs.

Bosch sensor (VW) came with my Wideband. Worked fine. I'd have to look up the part (WB02.com from Oz has the PN listed on their website).

Drifting OT. ^^^ for Hoseburg. Yeah, Honda/Acura parts in OR (except maybe Portland) sucks jang. They just order from Portland and wait a week (unless you pay shipping). Portland won't take CC orders from outside Pooland either. Autozone don't stock sh!p either, and I've not found much 'universal' for the R. Best to just park the R a couple of days, order from Len @ Baranco, and pay for fedex overnight. Still better (and cheaper) than waiting a week for locol, and you know it will fit and work when it gets there.

Thanks for the great info here guys, just as a follow up, I got my shiny (and sticky from anti-sneeze) O2 sensor from Len, installed it in five minutes, reset the ECU, and presto, no more CEL. The multimeter now says 11.4 Ohms of resistance :-)

go to summit and they have a an 02 sensor thats a direct replacement for like 60 if i remember correctly, the wires are a little long i believe its made for long tube headers such as the smsp and such but it works fine, ive used it for about a year with no problems. the part number is. NGK-24172
