the ATS will make your car FEEL slightly faster, and personally I think the LS 5th is a good idea if you do a lot of highway driving to help keep the revs(read: gas consumption) down a bit. If you are going to do it, might as well go with the ATS if you ask me.

ATS all the way. It's well worth the extra money.

LS 5th? Doesn't that come with a free sample of Vagisil products?

For everyday driving, JDM 4.7 and forget about changing fifth.
the RPM difference isn't even a valid arguement between the two IMO.

You want it to be low on the revs? 4.26 LS FD with LS 5th gear. That'll be low.

For thoe that really care about the 500 RPM difference between JDM FD and ATS.. shouldn't be looking at a FD IMO. The 5th gear pull is the best thing about the ATS IMO.

ATS 4.929 FD

On wet pavement you can pretty much forget about first gear traction even during semi hard acceleration but other then that the way the car accelerate out of a corner is much snappier. Very happy with this modification. RPM difference on highway is negligeable IMO (especially since my redline is at 9500 rpm so no lost of top speed vs stock)

Are there any disadvantages associated with the ATS, besides higher price?

JDM FD. 4.9 is too short on road courses w/ the stock rev limiter.

Warren: He said daily driver though. So while the ATS might be too much for the stock rev limiter on some road courses, it doesn't really apply to what he wanted. Personally, for daily driver my suggestion is still the 4.9. 5th gear pull owns.
