If you are anywhere near stock, it isnt needed at all. The MSD has a tendancy to eat stock ignition parts. My friend has a 4xx whp ITR and he's on stock ignition still.

You come around T10, then all of a sudden the car sounds like chit and runs like on 3 cylinders... Yep, happened to me. The boot on the dizzy side popped off. I'll never use those wires again. This speaking only of the wires since you didn't specify the ignition, cap or wires.

I've had MSD wires and a Blaster SS coil on my R with a Mallory CD ignition for like 4 years. They work great together. I still think an aftermaket ignition on a stock car doesn't do much, its the coil that really helps. First time I installed an MSD coil on my 92 rs I noticed results immediatly, then I installed the CD ignition and it was good but not as good as when I just put the coil. When I got my R I figured that I would do both cause they were cost effective and seemed to work well with my 92 rs. Some people say yay others say nay. Its your car, your cash, your headache if it ***** something up. Know what your getting into. Enjoy!
