Default LockNut & Key problem...

Alright, here's my story. About a month ago I raised up my car cuz I have crappy GC Coilovers... Anyways, while putting my wheel back on, I somehow busted off part (1/4) of my locknut. So I was just like... "Ok... Seems to hold", so I just left it as it is.

Today... I was gonna fix up the coilovers to make my car even, cuz I was gonna bring my car in for an alignment... Since for some reason the front right side was lower, I was gonna raise up that side. That was the same wheel that had the broken locknut on it. I put the key on the broken locknut, turn it... BAM! Another part of the locknut breaks off and all the thingies inside my key just shatter...

So now I have half a locknut on my wheel and no key... What should I do? I know I can get a new key from the Dealer for a few bucks, but what about the broken Locknut?

Thanks.
- Girl.

Try to use some WD-40, and a pair of pliers. Or take it to a shop and use a impact gun.

Good luck

I was just thinking... Since I got a broken Nut and Key anyways... Can't I jsut take to Acura, tell them to take off all 4 locknuts. Then just drive home with 4/5 Nuts on each wheel? I'll probably just get some Kyokugen Lugnuts for like 40-50 bucks... Seeing as how that's how much a 4 Locks&Key are at Acura...

kyokugens are made for aftermarket wheels...
you should not use them with your stock wheels

Taking it to Acura, wouldn't be a bad idea. Since it is a stock part, let them handle it. They're probably familiar with such an accident. If anything were to go wrong then they can fix it right away.

Hmm... What do you think I should get then? Just the normal Acura LockNuts&Key?

The reason you need stock lug nuts with the stock wheels is because of the seating area. The shape of the seating area on the lug nut needs to be the same as the shape of the seating area on the wheels, so that the two mate over the entire area. Stock lugs and wheels have a ball (spherical) shaped seating area, and aftermarket ones usually have a tapered (conical) shaped seating area.

One pic is worth 1000 words:
