Default Let's Talk Helmets...

Hi Everyone!

Well, I am soon to participate in my first autocross and I am in a helmet crisis. I don't have much money and I don't have much knowledge on racing helmets.

Could you guys give me some advice on helmets?
What the best bang for the buck?
I know I get "what I paid for"

I looked here: http://www.bellhelmets.com/rack/rack_set.html http://www.simpsonraceproducts.com/h...helmetset.html

What does everyone else use?

I spent about $200 on an open face bell helmet at http://www.racerwholesale.com I think there are cheaper places.

I spent $230 on a full face bell helmet in case I was doing competition in the future..
autox usually can pass a open face motorcycle grade helmet, and you can spend under $100 for a fine helmet for autox.
you can get a great open face for less than $200 as well....
if your poor, and ONLY autoxing then get a sub-$100 helmet.

My advice,
Use a loaner helmet the first couple events. If you decide this would be useful investment then I would look into buy one.

What he said. I went searching on the internet trying to find helmets too, looking for a good online place to get a helmet. i ended up getting one local at subesports in huntington beach. Came out to the same price. I got a Bell M2.
