Can someone tell me the proper places (other than the 4 rail corners since you can't fit both a jack and stand there) to jack up the R or put jack stands? Pictures or diagrams would be even better.

 

Jack on the rear tow hook and the front lower radiator support. Jackstands go on the 4 rail positions.

 

In order to do this properly, you will need a jack with enough lift height to raise the car up from the tow hook high enough to get the jack stands under the 4 corners. If you don't have a full sized jack, you can use some boards under the jack to get some extra lift.

 

You should probably put a board under the radiator support and tow hook to protect them from the jack. I do that with my WRX which you have to jack up under the rear differential.

 

You can jack from the front (2) tow hooks.

you're not going to damage them. hell my rad support is far more damaged from scrapping parking curbs (or whatever those 8' wide things are called) than from any jack.
