ITR Conversion
Sorry if this belongs in the Newb forum but I kind of need this answered quick because I have to decide what I want to do by this weekend. Anyway, I have the oppurtunity to buy a 00 JRSC EBP Si for $14K. But w/ that much money could I do a ITR Conversion on a regular Teg? I've heard of people doing CTR Conversions on late model hatches, but havent really paid much attention to it. What is all needed and if anyone has the time could the break down what it would cost/ work to be done on transforming a 96ish Integra (GSR/LS) into an ITR.
Thanks

You can spend all the money in the world and it's still going to be a regular teg. I've made my previous gsr close to looking like a ITR but it still was nothing when I drove the real deal. I have only known one person who has done this and been able to fool people (he is on this board and many wouldn't know)
I think hes got 14K to spend total, not just on parts...
If you like the Si, go for it. I only got my Si b/c it was new, had a warranty, and could be financed. Im only 18 and cant afford much with just cash
If I had the knowledge i do know when i bought my car, i would probably have built a hybrid. I know i wouldnt buy an Si used if i could spend the money to make a fast hatch or something, unless you must finance it.
I wouldnt go through the trouble of converting a GSR to an ITR either. Itll always be a fake, no matter what you do, and even after all the money youd put into converting it, you would still have, at best, a stock type r (at BEST).
I say either buy the Si and work on that (although chances are its been beaten to hell) or get a hatchcrap and go nuts

Sorry no body can "convert" an integra to a Type R. The Type R chassis is slightly different. The reason most of us have a genuine Type R is, it is unique and can not be reproduced, replicated perhaps but not reproduced. Each on is limited production and numbered.
This is not to say that you can not take a regular teg and make it fast or better in many respects than the Type R. If your intrested in the ITR drive train I would check the Hybrid section. I think the ITR motor trans will probably run $6K+. Be very carefull a lot of the drive trains are stolen!. Do not get caught with a hot motor and trans.
BTW If you pay $14K for a teg then $6K for the ITR drive train, you could have bought an ITR. Save yourself the hassle and simply buy a real ITR.
Good luck,
Jerold

Thanks for the help guys, I think I will stick w/ the Si. As long as we're on that topic let me ask you guys this. The guy I'm buying from says he has a very hard time competing in races from a stop because he spins way too much getting into gear and going. What are some things I could do to help this? Obviously softer tires like Yokohama A520's would help, but has anyone heard of placing in engine mounts or something like that or a traction bar? They have them at http://www.z10eng.com/ Thanks again guys. Oh yeah...here's a list of the mods on the Si:

Traction bars and/or engine mounts will not help combat wheel spin. They reduce/eliminate wheel hop. Better tires and throttle modulation would be the best bet there.
Nice Si ... good choice
