Default Help, I've got problems!

Well, I first noticed this yesterday but confirmed my disbeleif today. It seems that when I am taking a curve at high speeds at around 7k I will have sudden power loss for just a split second and then the car runs normally up to redline. I have no idea what could be wrong with #618.....she has been babied since the day I drove her off the lot oil changed every 3,000 miles and never abused till fully warmed up . Any ideas as to what could be causing this? Any input would surely be appreciated! TIA

are you low on gas? easy answers would either be fuel starvation due to cornering, or low oil leading to VTEC disengagement. Check your fl00ids.

Checked the oil and it is bone dry, barely any shows up on the stick. Now my question is, how could it have gone through this much oil in just a little over a month? No track days, no autoxing, nothing.......none leaking anywhere, always parked in the same place and I dont think I could have gone through this much oil just by burning it in 1,088 miles without noticing a smoke screen. Do you think the tech at Acura didnt fill me up last time? I did a compression test about two months ago and I hit 210 across the board...please help!

Sure, the "tech" at Acura could've only put 4qts during the oil change. (required is what? 4.2-4.4 qts w/ oil filter). So, you could've started w/ at least 0.2-0.4 qts lower than usual and burned up even more in the past 1000 mi.

My recommendation: Do simple maintenance (i.e. oil & other fluid change) at home. So, you know what you put in and know how to diagnose such small problems.

As a rule I go by, everytime I open the garage door I open the hood and ck under the hood for all fluids and anything that might be out of place.

I strongly recommend this for all car owners especially if you care about the car you going to drive.

(and my friends wonder why it takes me so long to get from my house to where ever)

The dots on the oil dipstick: about how much oil do they represent??

I know the top dot means 'full', but what does the bottom dot show?

I've always been under the impression the area between the dots is one quart of oil.

You had problems!!!

Must have been oil starvation, if you were that low on oil.

Nah, she was still going into VTEC and I didnt see a light come on so I'm thinking I didnt take too much life off of it.

I have been using the Honda 5W30...the dealer has been doing maintenece on it since I bought her, so they wouldn't have any excuses to back outta warranty work.

I just went by the dealer during my lunch break and they want to do a rebuild....but I dunno if I should trust them with that.

I think I am just gonna keep an eye on her and see exactly how much I am burning, I think the mechanic just didn't fill her up last time it was in for an oil change.

You guys think I did some major damage? I mean 2 quarts is pretty low, especially within about a thousand miles.....you think I should have her rebuilt?

Don't let those ******** touch your car again. Keep an eye on the oil. Do the oil changes yourself or find a good trustyworthy mechanic to service your car..

Whoa...free rebuild. Find out what exactly is replaced and if you can live without the car for that amount of time, I would go for it!
