Default Warranty Help

I brought in my R to Acura for the following.

Clutch was squeaking a little
Check engine light turned on for 2-3 days and then turned off.
My Car was making a weird clicking noise coming from maybe my CV.

Acura called me today and said that Clutch is wear and tear and not covered under warranty......Ok fine
Check Engine light. Was a misfire but nothing major. Code was reset.
Clicking noise they don't seem to hear it.................total $90.00

I have a 4 year or 50 mile warranty.......Why are they charging me $90.00 to do nothing.......I hate these dealerships! Does anyone work at acura or know anyone that does.........Can you check on this to see if I'm getting scammed. Car has 38K and will be four years old in Dec 2003

Did you say anything when you recieved the bill or did you just pay it? Why don't you call the service manager and ask for an explanation?

I don't see why you have to pay $90.00 since almost nothing they've done to your car.
Is that for labor cost ?????????

Just spoke to the Service Manager for an explanation for the $90.00 Charge.......he stated that the 90.00 was for the time for the tech to troubleshoot. My friends parents are looking into a RL at the same dealership and I told the manager that I will convince them to do business elsewhere because of your shitty service. I told him its either My $90.00 or my friends parent $50,000. You decide!!! He then said ok.......we don't want to lose you or your friends business but next time please make sure you are aware that there could be a possible Time Charge. I learned my lesson.......I'm never going to the dealership again.....Its time to get the Helms and do it myself.

no I dont believe you should have been chared for anything. **** them! U have a warranty and you are seeing if something is wrong with the car that they may have to fix. Are they trying to say that if you car had a bad engine and had to replace it under warranty, they would say "umm sir, you must pay us $90 for toubleshooting the car?!?!" screw that! I hate the dealership too, I bet they had a little fun with the R when you brought it in and they test drove it.

I brough mine to the dealership and everybody was in awe that it was a "real" typer. I had salesmen asking me if they could drive it.
I know those shop people go and have a little fun with ITRs and NeSeX's and all. Blows that you cant even trust your baby at the dealership.

Lesson well learned! I refuse to go to my dealer, all my work is done with my helms in my home garage.

Is your receipt itemized? Maybe the $90 was for the time the tech diagnosed the Clutch portion of the job. And since clutch stuff isn't covered by the warranty, they can rightfully charge you to diagnose it.

Cheese~ who is just guessin.

I dont understand why the clutch isnt covered under warranty....I have had my clutch replaced under warranty for just making a noise.....there were no signs of wear, just a click noise and the dealer gladly took her and replaced it within 24 hours, giving me a loaner as well. I have heard of people getting their clutch replaced twice under warranty. I think you need to find out why they are lieing to you. Fuggin dealers.......they are just a sesspool of scum....except for mine of course.

Different dealers charge differently - depends on location and management policy.

Clutches/brakes are wear items - each could be covered under warrantly under certain conditions depending on whether the defective part is a wear item or not.

Very FEW businesses give free consultations/evaluations. It is wrong to assume they are free of charge - do you work for free? I think not. The onus in upon the customer to verify any applicable charges BEFORE signing the car over for work.

my clutch plate itself was not covered but the throw out bearing and somethign else was cus it was squeaking.. my clutch still clicks.. but my firned that works at honda said its normal and I don't notice any performance change

in regard to the 90bucks.. think of it this way if you run a shop someone brings in a car and theres a non warranty issue with it.. and u spend 1 hour looking at it... your not gonna get paid by honda cus it's not warranty so u have to charge labor u know? it sux.. but it's a business

I hear ya I feel the same way...........No i don't work for free but how am i suppose to know what is covered based on a sound that could be coming from anywhere.........I'm just bringing my car in because I feel that something under warranty could be bad.......So just because Its not covered under warranty I should pay..........Thats BS! Whats the point of that..........Thats means I would have to pay a mechanic to tell me what wrong with my car and then if its a item covered then bring it the dealer so i can get it fixed for free????

I could understand it if they fixed something on your car that was not covered under warranty then they could charge you some bullshit charge, but they basically took your car out for a spin and charged you $90.

You should scan the bill and post it.

A local Acura dealership replaced my "blown" clutch (due to racing) free of charge boy did I luck out.

I took my R to the dealer, once. It was to have the headlights checked, they were not turning on. It turned out there was a loose connection under the dash, from the foglights(factory). It was fixed, and I was charged the money, I forget the exact amount. I had some words with the service manager, explained my sitiuation and my history with the dealership, and it was wiped. It was redicilious how they were charging me for their own mistake!
